Re: Battlefield 2 lag in Vista

Ok. I got bad news today. All this time, when I thought that I had physx card I dont. My brother told me that we did but apparently that turned out to be incorrect. I opened up the comp. and looked everywhere but no physx card so I guess that is out of the question. That was a bummer today.

So now we are down to the nitty gritty. I updated my sig so that it wouldnt cause anymore trouble.

Sry guys. I am sure about the rest of the specs though. Now its simple to troubleshoot.

Im gonna shoot in the dark here, but how old is your power supply? It might have lost some output power,im assuming youve had that rig 2 years or so?And with all those high end components even a slight drop in power could affect your performance.

It is about 2 years old. I dont know how old is the psu though.

OK. I opened up my computer. Cleaned everything with a compressed air can. I also put in some more coolant. The performance improved but could be better.

            Try this:

Seems like nVidia's cards are all f*cked up in general. I can't remember having to put up with this crap with any ATi card.

I know that this problem exists with 8800 gts but nothing to do with 7800 GTX. I turned off dynamic shadows and put dynamic light on low. I also put effects, and texture on medium. The rest are high, with 4xAA at 1680x1050 res and I am able to play just fine I guess. It doesnt lag that bad anymore.

Should I overclock the cards. The core clock is 430 mhz and memory is 1200mhz. How much do you think that I'll be able to take up to safely?

Yes, I just verified that it IS that bug for me. At 1600x1200 + 4xAA, it goes from 140fps to 38fps. ALT+TAB will restore it - for 20 seconds or so.

You shouldn't need to overclock SLI 7800GTXes, but if you wish, use nVidia's "Find optimal clock rates" if possible, it gave me the most reliable readings.

It's also prevalent on some high end 7 series GPUs: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=38603
