Bf is really slow/choppy on the web

I just bought bf2/bf2142, i have a fairly good comp its pretty new. i downloaded the latest patch.

while playing on the internet it takes like 5 mintues just to load 1 server, its like im playing with 256 ram but i have 2gigs. i have no idea whats wrong, single player runs fine, its juts on the internet i have problems, people have suggested it being something with my router but i dont know anything about routers.

While loading to server was there and small window above loading bar "optimizing shaders for the best performace on your system"?

No, Although i wish it was, I meant everything is slow like loading the server List, then the server, then when im finally in the game 10 minutes later i take 1 step, stop, wait, take another step, wait, heaven forbid i take a turn or all hell breaks loose

processsor is a little low my self as well need to get at least a 3.4/6 Ghz proc

2.0/4 isnt that great

Its also not an Intel P4. 2.0GHz AMD is more than adequate.
Are you running Vista? My loading times increased quite a bit from XP to Vista and I have a pretty strong computer.

No, im not running vista, just xp, its only when i play on the internet is when it is really slow, its not really the loading times its like i get .5 fps while trying to do anything net related to bf.

Hmmmm i use comcast too and it works good. The only problem is my copmuter (plays O.K. but the specs aren't very good)

I know what he is talking about. Take a look at my sig because I lag all the time as well but it does not take me 5 minutes to load a map. A minute at most.

Same problem for me and what is sad is that i was able to play normally when the game came out 2 years ago. Ive tryed everything told on the web and i still get this choppy movement on any server i go. Even if the server is in the city i live, i get the same thing.
