Some reason... What cooling do you use anyways? Dry ice?

Whatever did happen to your other extreme cpu?

Just figured out why it was over heating slow liquid cooling leak :hmm:

        Sold it to a mate

Stalker do you expect us to believe your running your 8800 ultra at 875mhz core? I think not mate, not even with dry ice.

Really? That sucks. Goodthing everything inside the case is waterproof though, wouldn't want anything to short circuit:yay:

            EDIT:

Ouch. Ram is prolly the first thing you need I got 10 bucks on the table for that! Maybe a defrag will help too? format if your computer is a few years old.

Maybe he has Single stage for cpu :)

              4.2Ghz C2D stable on air/water = bullsh1t
875mhz core on air/water = bullsh1t but possible on Dry Ice for benching and short periods :)

Only a few Core 2 duos will run 4ghz stable and new G0 stepping is possible 4ghz stable on air/water

Sometimes when I join a game with my clanmates they get the first kills while I'm still verifying LOL.

Re: differences in game load times?

The worst for me is that I get about 3 minutes lag when a new map was loaded and I join the game
But I just checked it - there is no extra application running except the "normal" ones.
this is quite new, I have this since a few months ago but have no idea why this is happening.
I haven't changed anything in my sytem except installing a new harddisk.
I have windows, BF2 and all other programs on one disk and have Fraps on the other to reduce fraps-lag.
The 3 minute lag also happens without fraps started/recording.
I'm thinking of installing BF2 to the other HD and then having xp and BF2 running on different HDs.
                    Would it help?

Summertime....even with top end water cooling ambient room temperatures rise and thus the radiators work less efficiently. Unless you're using cascade cooling (phase change). I always usually drop my overclocks a bit in the summertime to keep core temps at a sensible level. What cooling are your using Stalker? You not really using dry ice, are you?!

Definitely a fast system. Though having RAID 0 to improve load performance is very debateable. To be honest the cost effectiveness of RAID 0 is very poor in a single user environment, especially with Raptors (which I think are completely over rated especially against the new high density and perpendicular drives from Samsung and Hitachi).

But yes, a real fast system will load the maps up faster. I'm usually first in unless I'm fannying around with unlock choices or thinking up a squad name:

X6800 @ default clock (for now...)
                      2GB Corsair Dominator PC8500 DDR2
                      EVGA 8800GTX @ default clock
2x Hitachi Deskstar 320GB SATA II
                      ASUS Commando mobo
                      Seasonic M12 700W
...all in nicely modded Lian-Li PC-A10 case
                      24" Eizo Flexscan S2411W-U :yay:

Previous gaming PC was an ol' Athlon XP 2800 overclocked to 2.5Ghz, 1GB RAM, Radeon X850XT PE (AGP), and IDE hard drives. And it struggled....pretty slow load times.

a question though. why doesnt the server wait for 6 people who are ready to play before the round begins? 'cause sometimes ive seen 1 bloke has taken half the control points before that number of people are even ready.
I am actually near the top too, most times, which is why I was so surprised at how quickly the tank guy got in. He must be using one of those "dry ice" coolers hahaha.... but your question is an excellent one. The game itself won't start until a certain number of players join, why can't the round wait too. That is a great idea in fact.

lol, what she doesn't know won't hurt her! Or me either for that matter. She and games just don't go together at all.

Fips, dunno if it will help or not, but I do a lot of work with audio, recording straight to a hard drive sometimes, and it has been my experience that your record-to drive should always be on a different drive than the operating system. Recording software too, if you can, but for sure the destination drive. If the lag happens regardless of fraps recording or not, then it might not help to put BF2 on a separate drive, but maybe BF2 does enough on its own to at least warrant an experiment? Anybody else done this?
