    2gb or 4gb????

Hi, I am a huge battlefield 2 fanatic and that is why I am upgrading my current pc (see sig.) to:

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6600
    Nvidia 8800gts 640mb
    Nvidia 680i motherboard
    Windows Vista

I was wondering if I should put in 2gb or 4gb for Battlefield 2?

Does it even benefits from 4gb?

Any of you had 2gb and then upgraded and can see the difference?

Should I use windows vista ready boost feature instead where you plug as USB as a memory?

Kinda lost, help would be really appreciated over here. Thank you.

I do stutter in the game some times when I look around all of a sudden. Is that because of my cpu, memory or gpu?

Yeah East Haven isn't that far from Hartford.

If you do go 4gb and you are not running Vista 64, please do not come back crying that Windows only sees about 3gb of it,

stuttering is mostly caused by not enuff ram / page filing going to work

Hmm. Thanks stormy and conscript virus.

Conscript Virus: stuttering is mostly caused by not enuff ram / page filing going to work

What can I do about it then?

and stormy thanks for the info and warning.

if you get the 4 gig, get the x64 version of vista so that:
              1. you will have all 4 gig's available to the OS.
              2. the e6600 supports 64bit.

I have the same setup. Those who say you will see no performance increase with 4gb are wrong (wrong for vista anyway). For me, BF2 stutters with 2gb and it does not with 4gb. Load times are also alot faster. I'd say thats a performance increase. Even if it didn't help, you should still make the upgrade sooner rather than later with all these hot new games coming out.

Vista 64 is a must, and 4 gigs makes BF2 run far, far better. From the time I click 'join server' to 'join game' is about 10 seconds now. With 4 gigs, you will eliminate all stuttering ...everything is smoother. The price of RAM is coming down, and its not that much to go to four. (not to mention, you'll be ready for newer games, like Crysis.)

Hey guys thanks a lot for very good insight into this matter. I think I will get the 4 gb's rather than 2gb for my upgrade. Thank you once again. Any further comments are welcomed.

Uhhh, 2GB ram is all you'll ever get out of BF2. I've upgrade from 2 to 4 and nothing changed.

Then again, I'm on xp32 so really I have is 2.8 gb of ram recognized right now. Definately need the 64OS but the drivers are sloppy still hence why I'm still on 32.

And I too get stutters from time to time. I also get locked up in my connection too. I blame my ISP, so that may also be your case? I'd hope my rig isn't bottlenecking on bf2 maxed settings 1680x1050 O_0
