Ask patton if he watched American Idol while he fought the nazis, ask schwarzkopf if he walked away from the battlefield so he could make some pop tarts. I have over 200 hours of command time and i go right in the front lines to command, because the biggest part about commanding is getting a good feel of the battle before you. I mostly run and gun because i like to preempt the enemies attack and create distractions and diversions to spread the enemy out a little thinner and so that my teammates can flank the enemy and rack up the easy kills, but never at the expense of doing my job. The commander spot is one of the most unique roles in the game where you have to have complete command over the battlefield, a good or bad commander can make or break the game. I obviously like the fact that a good commander will get rewarded for a job well done by getting the times 2, but if the stats were gone all together, perhaps you would see less commanders who just walk away from the pc, and you'd see a commander who actually did their job.
Uh yeah to be honest in a VIDEO GAME the comand spot is not as important as it is in real life; Its laughable that you compare patton to someone playing a video game. not everybody will listen to you and you dont have an y control over what they do. all commanding in the game really is is dropping supplies,Vehicles, artilery strikes, and UAVS where you guys need them when its on a public server. Along with occasionally calling out enemys.

I Think the presence or absence of a comander can really only affect the final ticket count for the team +/- 20 tickets. You cant be a skilled commander on a pub no one will listen to you.

      anyways...
      1. good commander doesnt = win --people who commit to capturing flags and defending win games.
      2. commanding while fighting = ridiculous --your "diversions" probably don't do much to help you win.

      1. a good commander will spot flags and will spot enemies so that your boys who actually cap flags will know what theyre walkin in to, therefore helping to save your teammates and win the game

      2. and commanding while fighting, well i guess you wont have to fight if youre playin karkand all day, but theres nothing worse in my opinion than a commander who sits there and does nothing while his team is getting slaughtered, go get up and do something, your teams needs some help, my "diversions" where i'll go and cap some flags or blow up the enemy commanders assets, have helped me to get a win loss record of plus 200 wins and some good points and my clan mates appreciate it too. :)

you cant do all that and pay full attention to commanding.

i am curious though how you compare real life to a video game...... are you on any medications?

lol, geez, you guys are always so jumpy on these forums, everyone's always so confrontational, na i dont take medications but i do like them from time to time :) , but i also like a good discussion, especially when i'm stuck at work all day, work is boring :|:

obviously you cant compare real life to a video game cause its simply that, a game, i woulda thought it was obvious that i was just making a point that you shouldnt take the commander spot if youre gonna be walking around the house, and since the topic of this thread was, would you command if there were no stats, i threw in my 2 cents on the stats factor. As far as the real life jab goes, the cool thing about this game is that the maps are based off of real locations from around the world and it takes real tactics and strategy to win games and to gain alot of points, all you have to do is talk to someone who owns in a jet and is good at dogfighting or to someone who was a sniper in real life and owns with the sniper rifle, real life sniper and dogfighting tactics help big time, no?

            Re: commanding

It is a game, and if you don't play to win, what are you doing playing? I've said earlier I was a football player. (JOCK JOCK JOCK) The fastest way to get hurt is to lag on your team. Your own teammates will punish you for that, because...we can. We can't in this game, but believe me, we would.

I command a lot, these days, because I know how to do it. I'd rather be trying to get the 200+ hours it's going to take me to get my expert armor badge, but I've spent that time commanding instead. It's kind of irresponsible to be able to play this position, be on a team without one, and let it slide. It's also a pretty good way to lose.

Commanders get their perks, and I've never been seriously mutinied against, but it's kind of like being the only one in the house that will clean the bathroom. If I'm doing my job right, you get all kinds of advantage over your opponent and your score reflects that. ALL my stats just kind of ride at that beginner hump...global score will out...I want that armor badge...so now I command only if no one else is doing it, OR if the ones doing it aren't matching the skill of the team with their own command skills. That may sound like ego, but play on my team when I command, I'll show you what I mean by that.

i think he means for points and not kit kills.

on topic i hate commanding, i can do it, done it lots, takes full attention yes, but i just like being in the middle of the action and commanders should not be in the middle of the action. i will go commander if i get bored of fighting and just want to chill and spam orders/squad leader supplies ARE available etc, usually its better with the clan, being on vent is so much better as commander because you can talk to your team, VOIP is sketchy at best and this way i know my squads are listening.

True you might not see the kills from ART at the end of the round but they do count.I've got a couple of veteran badges by commanding and using artillary.

Commanding is like playing a RTS, none of the units follow your orders and all of the seem to have pathfinding problems, like taking the longest way to get to the suburb. But I get my rts fix from real rts'.

Or spamming negative for every order.

but you cant compare two completly diffrent things and use it to support your argument if they are not the same then by comparing them you dont make a point.

Its like me saying we should give North Dakota to Canada because pie tastes good.

i find commaning to be incredibly boring and generally not worth the frustration it creates. the only times i command are in small games when theres been no commander for awhile. that way if anybody bitches about me not doing a good job i can say "would you rather have me doing a half *** job or no commander at all?"
