    [STATS] Why we like them?

As I'm waiting to get off of hold on customer support, I figured I'd write up a quick thread on why I believe many of us like stats.

Now, before I start I'd like to say that there is a difference between a person who cares about stats and a "stat-whore".

I am the type of person who sets goals and works to achieve them. In Battlefield, I like knowing how many kills : deaths I have, and my accuracy. I like these stats because it lets me know if I'm improving, and possibly what I need to improve on.

However, for a "stat-whore", these people play the game solely for bragging rights. They play in a fashion where they want the most points in the fastest way, with the best kill to death ratio.

Many of us on TotalBattlefield2, I believe, appreciate the stat system to some extent because it allows us to look back at how we have played, and improve. A negative aspect to stats is the fact that it can ruin gameplay for certain people as a portion of the population does not play for "fun" but rather for "stats".

So, my main point is that stats are there to help us, and so many of us like it for that aspect.

So, while this stat outage will result in a decline in server population and activity, I think it will open up the game to more possibilities as people try new things without the fear or screwing up their stats.

    Do you agree?

It always boggled me how people need stats to see how they have improved.
If you suck, you havent. If you pwn, you have.
You just know when you have improved or not.

Never needed s*it like that on ET, CS, AA, etc. But now even those games are infested with stats and all that crap.

Stats help for certain things, like what things you're **** at, and what you're good at.

      They're abused too much.

they may be abused in some aspects, but do you appreciate them?

*and so you're saying you need no ingame leaderboard either?

I like the stats, i like to see how i am getting better! Without i would not know otherwise!
I still have something to aim for (like expert chopper) lol. Without those stats i would have never ever have been as good with a TV as i am now!

So yes (i could say more) stats have improved my gameplay!

A good player in BF2 should not rely on just 1 gun or 1 kit to get by on, or armor, or a jet, LOL or a heli for that matter. A great player in BF2 should be equally good in every kit and vehicle. Noobs that use the G36E with the burst scream no skill. It's just a quick kill. I love the challenge of going into a base with a DAO-12 or a MP7. Just remember, it's all how you use the weapon, where you situate yourself and your common sense. If you have consistent stats in your kits, you should be proud of it. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun, but why not try to become better at it as you go along?

I like stats... good to know how I stack up in things that matter, like jet and heli combat.

I'll be adding that Divine Legendz tag soon...

To be honest, and sound like a nerd, stats boost my ego around friends who play.

Exactly. I think that is the best part of stats is to compare with friends. A way to compete with them and also just to see how you've done as far as accuracy and such.

Maybe only the winning teams stats should be counted? lol that'd promote a lil more teamwork. But like I said in another post, I don't think stats screw up teamwork. That has been a problem in every online game i've ever played stats or no stats unless playing with a clan.

for me its the satisfaction of a good score/kd, and achievements. satisfaction has always been a big appeal for me in games and what is unique and special about bf2, aswell as games like final fantasy where u rise levels or dungeon seige where ur team is constantly being improved and u can get new fancy equipment for them. theres nothing wrong with caring about stats in this way

IF you only play for stats then what are you going to do when people stop playing BF2 and you wasted all that time to get a general rank.

I think the stats add another dimension to the game. Sure its fun to just play the round but its neat to see progress gained as you play over time. Creates mini goals and adds longevity to the game. I would be very disappointed if they got rid of the stats.
