is 2gigs enuff?

im thinking of buying some more ram and right now im playing with

medium textures
medium terrain
medium shadows
low dynamic lighting
high lighting
high effects
high geometry
2x AA
1280X1024

amd this runs bf2 really nicely and smoothly but it sutters soemtimes in PR and i was wondering if i buy another gig of ram to hve 2 gigs total...could i play PR on high textures smoothly..or should i go for 3 gigs

i have 2 gig and i can play BF2 on all high settings with no lag. the detail is awesome on high settings.

but wat about PR cuz PR maps are like 10X larger so it takes up a lot more memory

2 gigs of ram is the recommended amount for PR. All gaming is moving that way and theres no real want or need to design games for 1 gig.

You need 256meg to run XP, 512meg to run any decent program, 1 gig to run photoshop, word and publisher together, 2gigs is therefore only a step up really for gaming purposes.

Ram can be bought fairly cheap nowadays in the whole scheme of things. Most modern gamecards like x1950pro's would be bottlenecked if you only had 1gig of ram.

I believe BF2 maxes out in highest gameplay situations at about 1.3g of ram usage..so if you are running XP then you are fine,.. Vista may be at the limits though....

Effective way would be:

1.) Find stuff on Newegg with popular reviews and comments
2.) Go to Pricegrabber and search for that exact item
3.) You saved more from buying it that way because Newegg isn't the only best prices for computer.

INTEL CORE TWO DUO. get one of dose. RAM. get sumore. VIDEO CARD. get one that pwns.=happieness joy. crysis. and lots of fragging and 95 bot games on all high with 10 tanks 4helos 12 yets(and bombers like a10s) and lots of infantry and light vehicles.= A REAL BATTLEFIELD so fun.

I had 1.5GB & ran all mine on high & it run very good, I didnt have PR so i dont know about those, i've recently upgraded to 3GB ram & its super smooth on everything

Yeah 2GB should be sweet, but i'd go 3GB, put everyting on High, will run super smooth & wont take long to unload & stuff, which at 2GB it really dont, if ya can afford it go Large on upgrades.

Vanilla runs pretty good and playable but I get laggy in most PR maps, not all thou. Sometimes I can play PR with nice 40FPS which is enought I think
