Re: how to record your self playing bf2 not using fraps

    Only in single player

    • demo.recordDemo [demoname] - Starts recording current gameplay and saves the file as demoname.bf2demo in your \Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\Demos directory
    • demo.stopRecording - Stops current demo recording
    • demo.ShutdownDemo -

If you want record yourself in mulitplayer you have to be server admin and you would have to set it up first in your configuration.

thanks for that awesome input to this thread, darkloop. now we all know jtf2 darkloop thinks recording demos is "super confusing"! wow!

If you're in to making frag-movies then I advise you not to kill bots and think that is good. And please don't record anything from the demo unless you have a plot of some kind to your movie.

What ever happened to battel recorder then.
In your options screen click on the filter BATTEL RECORDER and then join a server, when round is over exit then go to commnunity in options screen then click download. You will now have a video of you and other players online.

Yeah well every time i go to download a battlerecorder file. It corrupts. So hey. In two years of playing BF2, I have not been able to download one file. It sucks

Somebody change the OP Topic Title, its misleading.

'How to' should be replaced with 'How do you ....?'

Re: how do you record your self playing bf2 not using fraps

I prefer to download them manually since I've never had good luck doing it 'in game'.

                      1. look up the server ip at game-monitor.com
                      2. in the server properties you'll see the download url.
                      3. download the demo(s). you'll have to guess which one you want based on the time stamp.
                      4. put downloaded demo in this folder "\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\demos\".
                      5. rename your demo(s) if you prefer.
                      6. you can now load up bf2 and the demo will show up in your demo list.

Battlerecorder and using FRAPs or another video-cap program would be my favorite. You can at least change camera angles in BRec to get the angle shot you want. It's just not very user friendly as far as FF, Rew, Pause, Go, etc.
