Re: "View distance"
It all comes down to how well the designers built the game, and how well they can optimize it.
Look at Crysis for instance, when you pass in front of an object, EVERYTHING that is behind that object disappears, until it gets in your field of view again. SO in theory, having a map indoors would harvest LESS lag, as there is practically nothing being rendered outside of the house your in.
BF2 doesn't have this, in fact I'm not sure what optimization methods these guys use....but the fact of the matter is, they don't work
When entering a house in BF2 EVERYTHING around you is still being rendered, so your computer has to draw all of the outside terrain crap, PLUS the high polygon house your in...thus creating a lag fest for most people(ever play Iron Gator?)
Same applies for large View Distances, Games like Crysis and Armed Assault specifically built there engines to harvest larger view distances...BF2, did not.
So if you "hack" into things and get the maximum view distance BF2 offers, things start to go haywire, lag ensues, and all in all BF2's already crappy running standards go to ****.....
