thats similar to the PC i had 2 years ago,but an 805 instead for the whopping OC. the thing is out of date. do some more research for similar cash you could get a far better machine. P4=netburst=bigass hydro bill=****ty *** processors.
E4300 with DDR2 800 (ram is the lowest its been in 8 years) 2 gigs OCZ Plat rev 2 = like 140 bucks. with an E4300 will be about i would say 4 times more powerful. and at LEAST get an X1950pro over the X1650, less than 200$. with these BF2 maxed to the tits on max 100fps, as well as most other games.or get an E6600 for the massive 4 meg cashe.

the rig your building is far out of date, never EVER go back to a P4 netburst, thats like shooting yourself in the foot on purpose and pouring rubbing alcohol on the wound.

Yeah, it kinda feels bad on my karma to rip the guy, but really, he wipped it out for everyone to see. And I can tell right now that he is not running matched pairs of RAM or at least does not have is RAM fully optimized because it is 1.5GB, which is either 512+512+512, or 1024+512 which is not the best of dual-channel. :yay:

When I first got BF2, I played with this set-up:

P4 Processor
512MB SD RAM
80GB Harddrive
ATi Radeon 9200 128mb

That's all I can remember. I haven't started it up in months. Nor do I want to. Point being is, I played. So those specs of yours sound pretty good. I wish I had your video-card. :p

Needless to say, I've upgraded to a new machine.

i had a 9250 for a week when waiting for a new card, even with 3ghz athlon it could barely do 20fps and overheated and crashed after 5mins :laugh:

Oh god! That sounds so familar. When BF2 came out, I was using a weak machine:

1.4 AthlonXP
512 corsair value
Geforce5200

Boy did I get tore up! When I had enough after almost a year, bought a very awsome machine (at the time). My stats and gaming went way, way, way up. And if BF2s still had the stats going back, you were able to see the day that I got a different machine. My KDR to this day still sucks because my past machine pulls my stats down.

I held my ground with my old PC. I could only play on low but when I upgraded to my new machine and used higher settings, I realized sometimes it can be a dissadvantage. You know, with shadows and all. Seems like when everything is on low, things are brighter and easier to see.

Ive gotten used to the shadows by now. It's just sometimes I'll go hide in a shadow thinking I won't be seen. But you never know who's got their settings on what, so what might be a shadow to you might not even be there for the next guy.

Jeez. That's even crazier. Playing BF2 and wondering what everyone else is seeing/hearing when you're all playing together. Im sure everyone has different specs to better suit their PC's ability or personal preference.

Oh ya - I had bought that ATi Radeon 9200 to play BFv!! Hahaha. I couldn't get past the EA games screen with the onboard card. Looking back on that video card and the reason why I bought it, and for the game I bought it for, I can only laugh...

I play bf2 on high with 4xaa: p4 (2.8ghz,) 2 gigs of ram, and a 6800 ultra.

I'm gonna be getting an e6700 later this year along with an 8800gts/gtx, haven't made up my mind which one I want yet.

No point to upgrade dual core, BF2 doesn't support multiple cores. What I've read, many players with dual core system, shuts the other core down while playing BF2.

Incorrect. A dual core processor would help because it gives BF2 its own CPU to execute on. Windows is multithreaded (the newest ones). Do any old task and you'll find that the graphs for cpu usage are always equal.

One of the awesome things about dual-core is that if a process takes up 100% cpu usage thereby locking your PC up on a single core, you can still task manager and kill that **** on a dual core because it's restricted to 50% of the processing power.

Rub it in my face why dont you. All i know is that i would have to change my motherboard (which is over £100) and my processor (£60) to get anything decent out of it
