    The engines should have
    2 x 40,3 kN
The guns recoil is about 30 kN

That's some massive recoil but still wouldn't put the plane in reverse.

An A-10 will rip through a Tank or armoured vehicle as they are imfamously named as Tank Busters.

          Do you think that this:

Cannot rip trough Tanks? Well, you decide.

Well, the A-10 was designed to attack ground targets - specifically tanks.

Also, there is no A-10 in vBF2, unless you count AF.

Considering how modern armor works i would say yes you could survive a direct run against most modern fighters. However considering how fast a modern fighter flies it would be ill advised for him to attempt strafing runs like in WW2 or of a modern A10. A10s are so effective because they are slow and low over the battle feild, not to mention are armored as hell them selves. The DU rounds do help alot though.

For those of you who think a jet cant touch a tank with their cannons ablazin. Find a tanker and ask him if he would sit in the tank while a f-15 or the such strafed his butt. I am sure the tank would probably keep him alive at least for a little bit but I doubt he would volenteer for the assignment.

All you ever wanted to know about 20 MM rounds and were afraid to ask

The 20mm ammunition used on the AH-1F Cobra are explained.

According to that these things can defeat half inch armor. Alot of APCs they listed have less than that in some places. So i would not let you shoot at me with it.

Guys, stop talking about the A-10. Everyone knows that it is MADE to kill tanks. I think the OP is referring to the fighters, ala F-35, J10, etc. Those cant kill tanks. The most they could do is heavily damage the tracks, gears, or cannons.

maybe i was mistaken... stall maybe? and remember i meant if it couldnt overheat or run out of ammo.

Obviously, think about it. You have 20-30mm cannons firing shells at armor, taking in account the cannon velocity + the modern fighters velocities and you're going to do some damage, DU rounds or not. They may not take out a tank in 6 hits like the A10 can but they sure as hell aren't going to just bounce off of armor like some weak *** rifle round.

The thing is modern aircraft don't get low enough to use cannons on armor, they have bombs and missiles which can hit ground targets at pinpoint accuracy from thousands of feet in the air without the risk of low flying altitude which is needed for accurate cannon strafing. The cannons are clearly designed for air to air combat and yes they would completely obliterate any chopper in seconds.

If you get the mod Spartan and I work on you get A10! On wake it rocks!

Oh and they built the A10 AROUND the gun...so the gun isn't built for the plane...sry I don't realy know how to say that.

Well yes, it might stall then. I did some further research and found out that the recoil might even be higher than 30kN (up to 50kN).

If fired infinite, this would mean you'd have to "fly the A-10 with only one turbine"

Its an urban myth. Unless the A10 shoots the cannon during tight turns, its going to fly just fine.
