    Re: "Official" Patch change list

wont happen.... for a couple of reasons.

we all know that ea and dice dont care about bf2 and like some people have said, no money = no support.

the other reason is that some of those changes on the list would require the entire bf2 engine to be redone. i didnt read the whole list, but one i saw was dual core support. you cant just enable dual core support in a program, the program has to be designed from the beginning with that in mind.

This has always been an issue for me for the following reasons:

      1) Most control points are a flag pole and a bale of hay with flag capturing radii much too small. This makes getting killed by jet bombings, artillery, and frag spamming far too easy. On open maps, such as Zatar and Daqing, it is a crap shoot as to whether you will survive b/c the first moment you realize you are being attacked is the same moment you die.

      2) Some maps are inherently imbalanced. Take Mashtur City, for example. The U.S. side can get the backyard and mosque in about the time it takes the MEC to get the power station. This also means the U.S. tank is in action quicker. All in all the MEC fight an uphill battle two minutes into the round.

      3) Several maps have an "hourglass" shape (e.g. 64 Dragon Valley) or an effective hourglass shape forcing most of the action into a small space. Sometimes the action is held up for a large portion of the round b/c it is too hard to attack control points beyond this "front".

I think the game calls for more open maps that have more complicated control points. Kubra Dam is probably the most balanced map in the game b/c it is open but you can't get everywhere from everywhere and the control points provide some reasonable cover. The flag capturing radii are a bit too small, though, in my opinion.

Anti-Aircraft weapons seem weak against aircraft allowing the pilots to rule the maps.

Jets are too overpowered in the game. The J10 being a prime example of this.

Missiles not locking on correctly; notably this is mostly the Anti-Aircraft guns.

The Blackhawk has been labeled “useless” after being changed in recent patches.

Players shouldn’t be able to block jets/choppers and then punish for the team kill.

F*ck that **** man, So when you fire your igla at least one missile doesnt hit the j-10 right and two unless you dont know what your doing hits the f35.

Do nothing to the j-10 make all jets or jets that face the j-10 more like it but the f-18 is fine.
How the **** are jets over powered, ITS A GOD DAMN PLANE ITS MEANT TO BE POWERFUL.

The aa guns do lock properly learn how to use them they work fine and are a real pain in the ***.

Yes make the bh guns have some splash damage.

Imo you should take out the minus points for tk's but kick them after 3-4, That way there will be less people doing it because the pilot will just go and not wait.

I agree with a previous poster. The control point are just a bit too open for attacks and small.
I mean, shouldn`t a control point be some kind of a fortified house, big-*** bunker or something. Pretty annoying when a squad or two are taking the thing over and then a nade or a bomb from a plane takes them all out.

To be honest I`ve never noticed it or thought about it, but now that someone mentioned it, I realize how much more s*it bf2 is.

            Thx cwv

Ditto on the control point issue. This isnt something to patch but would have been nice in the first place. Instead of having to be in the open next to a flagpole, perhaps the CP could be a certain bunker or house or even inside a boxcar on Karkand.

1-Not really, if anything they should keep the stats but change the way they are implemented to players.

2-Agree fully...this gave all the 24/7 Karkand lovers a big big hard-on but hell it really does show how un-dynamic EA/DICE are if that is the best game mode that they could come up with...

takes one to know i guess, and i shud think ur an expert by now...

OT: IF and when some of these are implemented it will be a very good thing, there are some sound suggestions in there. I personally dont see it happening for some reason, im not a pessimist but theres gotta be a shelf life for everything. For me the insta-prone and bunny hopping has been a problem, along with spam spam spam. Random deviation has been much more apparent but im beggining to understand it/live with it, it still shocks me how good some people can be with the AK101 and i respect that a lot of it is done without 3rd party involvement.

Anyway, a lot of people say IO killed this game. But i think it just requires some tweaks, not to say i have all the answers but i have some ideas :)

The punish system is misused by players.

                            And completely useless anyway.

When a player goes prone they can shoot instantly. A delay needs to be implemented for realism purposes.

It's a game, you want realism, go play PRMM, or join the military

The random bullet deviation makes weapons feel weak and pointless as an entire round aimed directly at a player does not always kill them.

Cone of fire and random deviation were added to help lessen teh learning curve so weak players would stand a chance. Remove it would only make the game better, but would also result in a flood of crying.

Switching weapons, particularly between C4 and detonator, doesn’t always work and is slow.

You can thank all the whinerss for this, since they are the ones that cried till DICE recoded it, now people want it back....I told you so

Controls for left handed players are difficult to adjust keys for only for them to be reset randomly or with every new patch.

                            I'm lefty and use default.

The game crashes when a Kit is picked up. This has been apparent since the 1.4 patch.

                            Never seen it

Players bunny hopping creates unrealistic game play and with added lag can make it difficult to play.

It's a game, you want realism, go play PRMM, or join the military

The throwing distance of C4 packs for Special Forces makes it much more difficult to take out tanks.

You can thank all the whinerss for this, since they are the ones that cried till DICE recoded it, now people want it back....I told you so

An auto balance option would help to even out game play.

                            There is

Ranked servers should be able to support custom made maps.

Duh, but since DICE doesn't think that map makers can make balanced maps, and because they know they can sell you garbage "expansion packs" free maps will be left out of their stupid ranking system.

The cross hairs on guns should be a bit more accurate.

Crosshairs could be smaller, but not a big deal, cof is what needs fixing.

Players should be able to pick up their own claymores to re-use them.

Claymores and snipers should be removed all together.

The game should remember what class and weapon you previously chose when you start a new map on the same server. It would also help if it remembered the mini map zoom settings.

It does remember class settings, I wholeheartedly agree with the minimap zoom settings though. I truely HATE that everytime I respawn I have to cycle through them till I get it where I want it

Chat should be available post match to help relieve tension and improve communication between team members.

                            It is

Server support for up to 128 players.

64 player servers are more than enough random morons, absolutely no need to double it.

                            Claymores should be destroyable.

Claymores and snipers should be removed completely

The assault class feels weak in comparison to other classes.

It is, especially since the whiners made a grenade have to hit some directly in their chest to kill them, thank the 1.12 cry crowd.

Someone hit with a headshot should not be revive-able. It’s unrealistic that someone shot in the head can be revived.

There's a lot of unrealistic stuff in this game...pretty much all of it, oh wait, did I say game? As in video game? As in not real?

The parachute should open much quicker and on a single press of the 9 button.

Funny, a bunch of suggestions to DICE/EA about adding more "realism" and then one wanting a parachute to open faster...because all soldiers jumping off buildings use parachutes.
While I know this isn't the OPs list, and it is in fact not even close to a patch list, I felt like commenting anyway.

i don't think this is the actual changes for a patch, someone, cant remember who said something about feedback.

im not gonna go on about all of em, but these are the few that interested me most:
The game crashes when a Kit is picked up. This has been apparent since the 1.4 patch-- what the fork? i have never had this problem, infact i dont think i've had one CTD during 4.1. connection errors yes, but this never.

Server support for up to 128 players-- LMFAO. omg, i do actually want to be able to play the game, not spawn, lag, die, lag, spawn, die etc.

Now, this one may seem trivial to some, but i agree that this needs fixing
The parachute should open much quicker and on a single press of the 9 button-- remembers me of the times i have fallen to my death frantically punching the 9 button much to no prevail. also, sometimes you hear the parachute open but you still plumet to the ground and a horrible death at terminal velocity

It won't be possible to give a definite answer until things are set in stone either way. It's really not even possible for me to speculate at this point simply because of the many factors and details involved in this decision.

Will there be a final decision made on this matter? Yes, however there's no timeline for this yet.

I think the most important thing here is that DICE are definitely aware of the things all the BF2 players want for a possible final patch. The community-requested fixes and fact that Battlefield 2 is still so popular with players are exactly the reasons that a future patch is being considered. If anything the current rumours and speculation are only further evidence of the continued interest in the game from the Battlefield community.

As ever we ask that you wait for official word on this matter from an official EA source rather than reading anything into the inevitable rumours and speculation.
