Nope, you want to use reverse phsycology. Tell them to spread out and disobey orders at all costs. Your gonna have 5 people hanging on your every word 1 step behind you.

If you're made squad leader because someone else left, and you're not willing to do squad leader-type things, then leave the squad and let someone else do it.
Also NEVER be a squad leader and fly a jet around all game...

this is a small thing, but to do with the picking your squad, dont forget to check some of the lower ranked guys' names. Sometimes if they have a clan or unit tag attached to their name (not prefix) then they may be a lot better than their rank implies because they most likely have another account that is a higher rank.

I think a snipe should be included with every squad, if not leading in some cases. They can easily scope out an area that most usually have to run into, they can even clear the area if there is little enough resistance, and best of all, they usually remain alive longer due to not being in such direct action so the squad could easily respawn at a safe area and coordinate a second strike if the first failed.

I'm a lousy squad LEADER because I usually get right in the action. I usually forget to hold back and act as a spawn point.

But as a squad MEMBER, I usually follow the chain of command. If everybody plays their part the game is far more fun.

...and you win more often :)

I learnt recently (on infrantry only) squad leaders life is obviously most important... be a medic and stay alive, dont revive any1 unless they die at your feet. I manage to hit amssive kill death by sitting back and letting squad take flag, whilst the squad get grenaded (generally i pick crap people as they follow me lol) i get many many kills because the enermy are so distracted.
If you use this approach use the long range guns... like g36e, or other unlock l9 something... the one with scope lol, m1a2 is good too

EDIT.... choose a cool squad name too thats can be recognised.
Today i was playing karkand and my squad was called... TEAM JESUS then TEAM GOD and finally when i made TEAM POPE it filled in literally 3 seconds, i made a reputation as good leader and people jumped at the chance, the name i think helped make it unique lol

Well you gotta play in the right servers, or with a group of friends (like the ones from TBF2) for the squadwork.

I'm thinking about making an advanced one, maybe even map specific, but that is a lot of reading for you guys and could take a while. Squad Leader is my favorite position, 150 hours I have some experience with it. For the most part I'd say 3/4 of my time is Squad leading on vehicle maps. Give me some feedback, let me know if I should write an advanced one.

Bob_Is_Scary, you seem to have some background on I/O squad leading, maybe you could help me out there.

Yeah these are pretty basic, but I've seen these tips work for the most part on on public servers also. I'm not in a clan so I don't have the luxury of working with the same people all the time, but I try to play on the same servers all the time. When the squad thing does work on a public server it is very sweet.
