When it works, nothing beats Battlefield 2, and as much as I'm looking forward to upcoming fps titles, I think that Battlefield 2 would continue strong for several years if they would just fix it.

EA had something really great with BF2. They could pump out new maps and we'd buy them to no end if the game worked enough to keep the servers full.

It's even possible to revive BF2. They should be humble and look for outside help at making the engine secure, tighten up the gameplay, offer a whole new assortmant of weapons every year, and release a map every two months (to sell, not give away). Once the game's reliable, the servers will fill back up again. New maps will keep the game rich and up to date, and for god's sake, add single player for each map so we can still play when there's no one else playing.

Battlefield 2142 suffers from the same exact issues. Instead of cleaning up one game, they spread out the problems into a new market. Battlefield 2142 shouldn't exist. We should be playing Battlefield 3 and it should be everything that BF2 isn't, and then some. The battlefield franchise doesn't need to be like the COD or MOH franchises. Since it's pure sandbox play, you can just continue to support the game, update it, and add content. Still make a ton of money, and actually have a supportive consumer based community.

Personally, I think 2142 is enjoyable enough to be a stand alone game. I wouldn't pay $50 for it, but I'd have no problem paying $30-40 for it.

BF2142 is the biggest waste of potential I have ever seen. Futuristic setting means literally unlimited creative possibilities and potential. Instead... its just a mockery of BF2.

2142, played it, feels like a BF2 mod. Frankly, if I want the futuristic setting, it's Doom, Quake or UT for me.

I used to love that game, but as Dotr and TKO are out of business, it`s just another shooter for me.

I actually love both games. You may believe its the same as bf2, but in my opinion it isn't. I recently came back to bf2 after about a month of solid 2142 gameplay just to play around. BF2 was so much easier, i went like 21 kills 3 deaths every round i played. It almost felt like i was cheating. Maybe its the fact that there is no rifle sway or less things to kill you (i.e. drones, mechs). They are both awesome games and i really enjoy playing them both. you can agree or disagree i don't really care, thats my 2 cents.

WHAT!? are you talking about!!! i usally killed like five times i died in 2142. then i tested bf2, and i sucked! i hardly topped 1.0 K/D. (except for the j-10 whoring). ive always thought 2142 was so much easier than bf2. specially the first weeks. but it still is. i rarely find people in 2142 which i can tell "holy.... DAMN!!! you're good!".. find them everywhere in BF2. im not saying that bf2 isent filled up with over 80% of noobs. but you can actually see multiple people in a round that are special.. in 2142 you never meet those.

ts exactly what i was thinking.

The reason i dislike is it has no jets and all these futuristic gadgets like cloaking devices I prefer a game where you have to know where everything is based on your skill of the game. UAV somewhat ruins that but not to the extent of cloaking devices
