Newb guns suck, or me?

New to BF2 but not FPS's. However I cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on. Everytime I open fire on someone, often with the SF's gun or assault gun, MEc, US whatever don't matter, I can put 4-5 rounds into someone and they turn around, drop and pop, I'm dead in 1-2 shots. I'm always crouched or prone, zoomed or not zoomed, nothing matters. I've often had many people take 4-5 shots, turn around standing and moving and blat, I'm dead.

I understand headshots and body armor but christ, it does this ALL the time, and no way everyone is always getting a headshot on me.

Are the unlocked guns that much more powerful than mine or what am I doing wrong? Tired of shooting people only to be killed in .5 seconds. Never experienced this on CS or previous FPS's.

its one or more of the following......Lag, Ping, Laggy hitboxes (hit boxes follow behind the player), crappy netcode, and poor hit detection.....

aside from that, its your aim (its not ur aim)

Hehe no really, not trolling, is this normal, do the guns get much more powerful?

I've read guides that say the unlocks "upgrade" is minute, but in the game the upgrade for special forces goes from low/medium to medium damage, seems decent to me, same for the sniper rifle.

Or am I missing something?

I by no means have the best aim yet in this game, but I'm definately hitting my targets when this experience happens. 4-5 hits is not an exaggeration, then they whip around and it's over. However my sniping is pretty damn good, I get my hits, but even if the target is dead still, close range, crosshairs on head(I know to adjust for distance), rarely get my headshot.

I do indeed have a lag problem, could even be my AGP platform, but it runs smooth, medium settings, but if it's highly possible it's technical issues, guess I gotta suck it up.

everyone complains about this...it is quite typical.....

ask anyone, they will tell you unlocks arent any better, they're just different....M95 has the ability to shoot through vehicle glass for example...but not that great for long range sniping......its just about prefference and which one fels best for you

Eh, think I'm done with this game as far as infantry goes.

Karkrand I beleive, in shack by train I see guy coming across bridge, mow him down with the mounted machine gun. I know he'll be back so I find new position.

He enters shack, I wait for him to exit, maybe 20 yards away, open fire with SF gun, my crosshairs lit up like a christmas tree, hit him ATLEAST 4-5 times, he does a drop/roll, before his body even stops rolling he fires 2-3 shots I'm dead.

Game is weak.

Everyone has or does have this problem, thing is, over time you learn to adjust for it or get used to dyin'. You should try single shot or shoot in short bursts, don't just blast away, you'll miss more that way. Yes, and aim for the head. You will find some servers have better hit detection than others, so if you think you are missing more than normal, try another one. One of my favorite servers where I get a ping of less than 10, has the worse hit detection, so its not just ping alone. Good luck, and welcome to BF2.

it takes at least 4 hits to kill anyone with spec ops guns, and if youre on full auto at any range at all, youll probly only hit with your first shot and then the rest will be off. the cone of fire increases a ton with full auto. fire in short bursts, even if the gun has an automatic setting. and with sniping, there is negligible bullet drop, but there is travel time and lag, so you do have to lead a little.

I like the final unlock of the Spec-Ops class, the Scar, has a very light amount of recoil which means if u do in fact, go "full auto" on some one at close range, your chances of killing them increase significantly.
I also sometimes use it for nice long distance killing, it's scope obviously isn't nearly as good as a snipers, but if u do single shot bursts it can be pretty close in accuracy considering...

I think for the USMC team, the best stock kit is the spec ops, granted you don't have body armor, you do have a scope. use single shot and just hang back in your squad. if u really want some quick points to get an unlock (or 2) go to a karkand server with 63 people, join USMC team and be a medic. that's how i got my first unlock.

Should have worded it better. I didn't mean I lit up full auto, I do short auto bursts, usually 2-3 shots per burst, adjust recoil and burst again. Never spray and pray, doesn't work in this game.

In the situation I described I hit him with 2 bursts, I mean he was close, within 20 yards, then he rolled and I was hitting my keyboard in anger :p

Yeah I've noticed drop is fairly small but I've always led them, specially back in BF1942, engineer gun was better than sniper rifle, for me anyway :p

3-4 people have since said it's most likely technical issues so I'll just have to find lower population servers and see how it goes.

I know ive hit someone 100 times with a machine gun from 5 meters away, and he hasnt died, yet i can hit someone once in the head from 500m away, theres no escaping that :P

Try the RPK, its a very easy gun to use if you're new.

Try short, controlled bursts and single shots, don't zoom either.

Keep blaming it on lag, hitboxes, and whatever else you can.

It's because you're a n00b, no ifs and buts. The person killing you in 2 shots is more skilled than you.

Being able to predict movements and aim accordingly is a skill. Yes, I know, quite a shock, isn't it?
