    Running more than one version...

Is there any way to do it?

Basically like having 1.41 AND v1.0 (or a previous patch) on your P.C and being able to alternate between the two as you wish.

I remember hearing about this a while back but couldn't find any more information saying how to do it. :hmm:
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Yeah. Fresh install of 1.0, copy and paste the game folder so that it has a different name. Patch the game to 1.41 (or desired patch). Copy the desktop shortcut and edit it to the new path for the 1.0 copy. I run multiple versions for online and lan play.

Yeah, just install the fresh version in a different folder.

So can you do they same for mods? Keep one vanilla for ranked servers and another for mods??

You don't need to do it for mods; they install in their own mod folders and don't affect the vanilla game.

You could actually run into trouble trying to run 1.0 alongside 1.03 or later because of the CD key being encrypted starting in patch 1.03 (so the 1.0 copy wouldn't recognize it after you patch). Might not be a problem if you only use 1.0 with an offline account.

Yes. All you have to do is copy the entire folder using a different name i.e. from "battlefield 2" to "battlefield 2 online", copy your desktop shortcut and edit it to the new location, then you can install any mods you want to the original "battlefield 2" without losing your ability to play online without problem. If you decide you messed up your modded one or want to get rid of it just delete it and rename the other back to the original name.

Is the C.D key necessary for un-ranked play?
Or is it only ranked servers which require a valid one?
Because there are no ranked servers running on v1.0 I think

OR is your C.D key checked when you create an account instead of everytime you join a server?

I'll try it anyway; What's the worst that could happen?!

Your key is checked when you join a server online. I don't know if unranked servers check, but you can always try. Offline there is no problem.

Really? I thought that registering with EA only meant that they got hold of
your personal details and allowed them to send you lots of e-mails advertising their products!

Oh well, I might as well register this time, i'm terrible with losing things

Oh god i've forgotten how much fun v1.0 was: Blackhawk Whoring, C4 Chucking, Noob-Tubing etc.
Although it's not anywhere NEAR as stable as 1.41, I'm getting lots of CTD's

I run 2 Bf2 copies at all times, but both are 1.4 just in case I mess up while patching.

*Eddy, please use spell check again lol.
