ive never taken out the card, the only thing thats changed is that i re-installed windows.

i tried the sound drivers on my pc manufacturers site, and it said it couldnt find the card, does that mean its maybe been knocked loose or something?

Probably means your trying to install the wrong drivers.

Is sound onboard or on a PCI soundcard?

If you give me the exact make and model i will have a look for the right drivers.

Go to majorgeeks.com and download unknown device identifier. Run this program and it will tell you at least who the manufacturer of the chips in the sound card are and you can narrow down drivers from there!

                Good Luck!!!

go into your bios (hold delete down when you turn it on), and make sure you audio device is enabled. Should say something to the tune of "audio" or "ac97" or "sound" etc.
