well in a sense it is bf3............only because it is in fact a major overhaul of the battlefield series as a whole. Modern Combat couldnt be called a "new" game of the series like......bf4 or whatever, simply because of the similiarities. It was basically a port, with some differences simply because of the pc, console differences. Whereas Bad Company in no shape or form resembles bf2,......well one its not, and two it is a "new" game. NOt a port. The similiarities are its a "war" game. Other then that the similiarities stop there.
Show me BF3 or something to that aspect for the pc. You cant. Well, actually there is a bf3. Its called 2142.
2142 is, in my mind a far cry from being a bf series type game. Sure.....you can argue it, but............
Bad Company if you read the reviews, comes out and says......in not so many words...........its bf3.

Did a search on this here so i wouldnt repeat something already said, and didnt find it so.......if its old news sorry.

Dice is making bf3 of sorts but for xbox 360 only apparently. Its called Battlefield: Bad Company. Theres loads of vids and screenies of it if you do a quick search. It actually looks......insane. They even say........"this time you can really blow up anything".....(in game: walls etc.) Sorta sounded like.....well, we said you could for bf2, but......well we missed the boat, but here you go......xboxers'.

Since when is this Bf3?

Isn't it just a part of the console Bf franchise along with Modern Combat and the like?

And Bf2142 is no Bf3, otherwise the Bf2 that we currently play would be called Bf3 because BF Vietnam would be Bf2 and so on..

Bad Company has nothing to do with the PC Battlefield franchise.

The thing Battlefield: BC does give us is a glimpse into the future of the Battlefield series. Give computer graphics technology another year or so, and it will able to cope no problem with the high-end features of Bad Company. I think we can safetly speculate that this game will be on the PC but under a different name as well as other changes. Its only natural for a company like EA/DICE to do that.

I wouldn't worry too much, as this is more of a primer for the games that will be available for the PC within the next year or so. This lets a company release a game for hardware that has a lot of power, but is pretty much uniform. This makes the developmental process smoother, and they have a whole bunch of eager testers for features that might make it in to the next PC release.

I have a feeling that the next great BF like game isn't coming from EA/DICE. ID Software was once the center of the FPS universe...

The next generation PC games will use DirectX 10 and run on GPU hardware that is more advanced than the XBox360/PS3 - [GF8800 & ^]. Mass adoption of Vista isn't likely until at least SP1 (at least that's how long I'm waiting), and with it DirectX 10. So the developers have even more time to work on their games.

Who knows, Duke Nukem Forever might even come out

Agreed, also BF3 must have 3 fractions fighting against each other, rather than 2.

But I don't think the US military is going to use it. Because it's the same cal. as an M16A4 so they want something that hit's harder. *sigh* What an awesome gun.

too bad if it ever comes out for PC it would prolly require another hardware/PC upgrade...

PC out performs SONY's PS3 and Xbox 360. Even Dual Core is faster people like to say the 360 is amazing but I got a GTX and its funny how oblivion looks better on the PC then it does on my 360 with a 42 HDTV. Details are nicer for the PC. You'd probably need a good dual core system and DX10 but it'd run on the PC... DX10 is going to rock when some games are released for it.

If you actually played both games around the same time like i do you would know how different the game experience is. It is no mod it is a new game, while the graphics engine is the same, everything else is different. Infact, the graphics are better and the whole feel of the game, it's different. A lot of things about Battlefield 2142 are different, that is just blind hatred and you clearly have no idea what you are talking about..

And i don't recall it being a flop DesertFalcon.

You forget to mention that the 360 and PS3 do actually out perform some computers and not others. It all depends on whats inside the computer, sounds like you got a good one, doesn't mean computers generally have better graphics than the consoles, i know mine doesn't.
