Engineers, please lookie here! Tips needed badly. :)

Okay so here's the deal..

I got 1000 heals and resupply's, but I kinda need 1000 repair points as well to get that medal I'm looking for. Only problem is: Repair points: 67.

So ehh.. Yeah. o.O

I'm finding repair points to be a true pain in the a$$ to get. lol

So if any of you guys out there got some good advice or tips as to how I can get some repair points, it would be much appreciated! :)

What I've been doing so far is pretty much either run around as an engineer, hoping for something to get blown up, or I've been hijacking tanks. lol

Thanks in advance, guys. :)

I've been trying to get into a squad with the leader in the tank. You then spawn on him and every time it gets hit you do your thing. But what i'm having trouble with is trying to get 20 repair points in one game. And it really just takes time to get 1000 of anything, thats all.

Well... I'm having trouble even getting 10 points in a round, not to mention 1. o.O lol

Thanks for the advice though, keep 'em coming!

Well, there are several forms of "padding" to get repair points, but I rather not list them.

Some legitiment ways to get repairs are:

1. To constantly follow friendly armor around either by foot or in another vehicle (preferable another piece of Armor)
2. Repair commanders assets after a crazed enemy spec ops guy keeps coming back for more.

Regardless, it's going to take you a LONG time to reach 1,000. Safe to say at least 200 hrs, if you get around 5 repair per hr (and that's pretty darn good).

And one good map to repair commander assets is on jalalabad. If you play mec, and you stick around mosque, the usmc players will always go behind mosque and try to take it over. Let them blow the assets and, kill them and repair. Then wait for some more.

if you have SF, drive an atv or raider around on Warlord following your armor and keep repairing them. also speed back to repair assets when they are taken out. thats what I did. 10 repairs is easy on that map.

Oooh... All good advice! :)

I don't know though, maybe I should just drop the idea of getting that Meritious Service Medal. I don't play nearly enough to ever get 1000 points within... Well, my lifetime. o.O

You also get points for removing or "wrenching" enemy mines. Correct me if I am wrong.

warlord is imo the best map for repairs, i've had two rounds where i got 17 in each

also wake sa PLA

I agree with signa. If you have SF, you much more likely to get repair opportunities on maps like Warlord where it's easy to get to enemy assets to destroy. If you only have vanilla BF2, I've found Mashtuur City to be the easiest to get repair points on. I wouldn't worry about trying to get 1000 though. :)

If you could explain why, it would be helpful.

Engineer Class
-In close combat (<10 yds), be patient and aim your shotgun carefully. Go for the head.
-In combat with enemies who are 10-50 yds, use your pistol, use your grenades, and use cover carefully.
-Pick up mines laid by the other side that are in the way of your vehicles. You get points!
-Don't mine an entire entrance. Your guys won't be able to get through.
-You can repair in any position, including prone.
-Keep in mind mines need about 5 seconds to activate, so don't think you can use them like a spec-ops C4 package to take down a moving tank.
-If you are doing a lot of repairs, you will need to “reload” your wrench occasionally, either from a support class buddy, or from a supply drop.
