We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
I figure I've been around long enough to pick suspect players from good players. You look at some of these low rankers that totally own the game and never seem to miss. Either they've started another account or had their stats wiped for padding or cheating. Some I agree are just plain gifted but there's an old saying.. if it looks like bullsh_it, smells like bullsh_it and tastes like bullsh_it then it's probably bullsh_it. You still have to be careful who you accuse but sometimes it's too damn obvious. Remember back to the early days when everybody was green. None of this seemed to be happening. I suppose it would take the hackers a while to come up with suitable undetectable hax.

only two times have i accused of hacking and been sure of it afterwards, one was a guy that would shoot you of no matter where u were on the map with his jet and another one that jumped and shot u in the head 30+m away with the AK101.
To me no matter what the technical aspects of it are, they are attempting to cheat.
To me a hack, or hacker, is just what it implies. Chopping away at code and networks to get into or past something and arrive at a place your not supposed to be.
Many hackers hack and are not malicious, it's the challenge of getting there they like.
Can't say the same for cheaters, they design something that is similar since it circumvents the original programing, but it's not like they drop it at that point, once the victory over the programing is achieved.
They use it to cheat. Hence they are cheaters, even if it's hacking that gets them there.
Fortunately for me my style of playing (all maps, full squad if possible) they don't effect my game play much. You can hack all you want, but If I own TV station at SHarqi , it's going to take more then one individual with an Aimbot to take it away from my squad.
I'm more worried about a hidden SL with some good teamates, then some single clown who can head shot my guys occasionally before he's routed out and gang raped.
Someone who is hacking.. to ME is someone who can snipe infantry in a jet with 1 bullet and ALWAYS get a kill. If I'm infantry and I'm nowhere near a flag, and all of a sudden 1 bullet lands on me and it says I'm killed by a jet, thats DEFINITE hacks. Theres NO other obvious hacks in the game. Sure someone can come around a corner shooting, but who cares. That's not blatant, it may be lag, the commander may have spotted you, etc. But seriously I get angry I call people hackers when I really don't mean it. I've seen many times people will get into a jet and snipe me in the middle of nowhere with 1 bullet or one short burst of the cannon. It doesn't matter if your spotted or not, theres no way you can be that accurate.
well there were a lot of replys here that summed it up already, now get these replies out to Joe Public so good old Joe knows the difference between a hack and talent
I heard a good one the other day while I was soloing on Dalian....
"OMFG that Slinger guy is hacking"
admin says "what"
"hes using an aimbot"
I reply "LOL ok whatever dude"
his reply (and this is where it gets good) "that ****** is hacking because hes soloing in the attack chopper"
me >>> "LOL"
him "everybody knows you cant possibly solo in a helo, if you do your using an aimbot"
my final reply before the admin kicked him "hey a$$hole before you go spouting off about sh!t you know nothing about, get your sorry punk a$$ over to TotalBF2.com and do some reading son, IF you know how to read"
that kind of a$$hole p!sses me off, the guy had NO FVCKIN CLUE what he was talking about, THATS the type of guy that needs educated in terms of what IS a hack and what ISNT
Some I agree are just plain gifted but there's an old saying.. if it looks like bullsh_it, smells like bullsh_it and tastes like bullsh_it then it's probably bullsh_it.
Dude, you didn't have to go as far as to taste it.

I prefer the word cheat over hack.
Me too, but trying to change a term that is now ingrained into the online gaming community is just not worth it anymore. They're officially 'hackers'. We all know they can't hack, but that's what they're called when they cheat.
You should probably ask Evenbalance, but I think hack is something what you can't do by hand without tools, and it changes or adds something into the game either in memory or during loading (replacing files). Everything below that is not hacking, but cheating maybe.
Cvars are not hacking unless they're enabled with a hack or modification?
Take a look at league's rules to see what they think is not legal. ESL for example has penalty points if you use colored models (in CS?) and so on. It's not hacking but they don't allow using those.
Just to clear it: Hacking and cheating are completely different things. Hacking in games may not always mean cheating.
The reason this is disallowed in most(if not all) leagues, is because:
1. You could make incredibly brightly colored skins that are easier than normal to see.
2. You make incredibly large skins to also see easier.
3. This is how most common wall hacks in CS work. They simply change the wall textures to a glass texture, allowing the user to see through the walls.
I've played with my fair share of AWESOME players(join a BF2Pro server), and I know that some shots are possible. There are a few that I have been iffy about in pubs, but not to the point where I call hacks every time someone one shots me. This is(sometimes) pure luck, or pure skill. I've never accused anyone of hacking in-game(at least not just for a laugh), and I think all the whiners who constantly accuse people of hacking just need to grow a pair and shut their mouths.
I've been accused plenty of times back when I played Source and CZ. Got banned from my favorite server because they thought I had an ESP(basically a nametag hack that can either, show the names, weapons, health, armor, when they're reloading...etc. etc.), and it's not fun. Thankfully I've only had a few PFC's accuse me in BF2. I'd like to think at least 20% of the BF2 community isn't naive enough to be such a blatant (insert noun here).
Then again, I play in pubs rarely, if at all.
Edit: Actually, my clan leader and I suspected someone of hacking once. One, it was in an IO Jala' server, two, he was using an SVD to get 400+meter headshots, and three, because once we called him out, he got quiet and started playing Support, and never killed us once after that. In fact, my IO2 vid features a few scenes of me tearing him to shreds. Oh boy do i love pubbing.
I got kicked from a server for HACKINGGGG after I knifed the admin's foot sticking out of a wall.
Never accused anyone of hacking because it is just stupid to do in-game. If I was certain a player was hacking I would take it to an admin, hasn’t happened yet.
I have played with 2 players that I recall with an aimbot, 1 only killed me once iirc but it was very bs. Took out 3 of my clans good inf players all headshots in CQC in less then 2 seconds. I never said anything in-game but I did search his alias to see if it came up on *** or other hax sites. Someone later got battle recorder footage of him playing and he was banned for aimbot / wallhack. Clan was dropped to bottom of ladder.
Other one was on a pub server, can’t remember him killing me at all so I didn’t find out till he was banned.
I guess I would define a cheat or hack as a player repeatedly pulling off near or completely impossible shots.
I saw what i thought a complete hacker a few days ago. I was commanding in 5vs5 IO. ther other team didnt have a commander, so i was going around, using the birds eye view to sneak up on people and knife everyone i could. i got a few, but one player ALWAYS knew where i was and saw me coming. like for example in jalalabad i was hiding behind the UAV trailer in mec mosque, and sure enough that player walks right into the mosque and heads straight for the uav trailer. I could be sneaking up on him from 100m away in watching the commander screen, he would instantly turn around and head striaght for me. basically i could never sneak up on him. now im 100% they had no commander the entire game, it was only 5vs5, so does that sound like the hack where you can see though walls and everything is neon coloured?
And his multiple massive killstreaks only using the pistol were a little obvious, for a staff sergeant
