    Re: Weapon Modification Specifics

Stalker to the rescue of my noobish modding knowledge again! Thanks man, along those lines, could I maybe switch the .dds files on the fly, so, for instance, if a sniper was prone he would reduce opacity to 90%? You see the ideas I am going for here. Could prove to be fun and it would fit with the theme I am inadvertently developing which is arcade/semi-future style of mod, too bad I am no good whatsoever at modeling or texturing, reduces me to using prebuilt things like the jackhammer to make my AutoGL.

      Re: Weapon Modification Specifics

      ahahaha man, that'd be cool....

Umm, I've never been able to do something like that, so you'd probably have to make a new effect and have it be triggered somehow (I'm not sure how this all works, I'm too used to programming calculators with "if then" statements lol) which changes the skin file used.

If it is any help, I would look under the map files, because somehow they select which skin to use (i.e. woodland or desert skin)... I'll look this up in a second, but as of right now I've got to finish some homework.

      Hope this helps

Thanks agian, and that sounds like a pretty good plan, do you happen to know anyone who can take a SketchUP File and texture it and get it ready for BF?

I made this sweet 3-story building and was hoping someone could do somehting with it....

*and where can you find the different projectile files?

I was reading a thing about how to add new weapons and I foudn it very odd that they state that you have to create a new .zip and call it custom and then mount it and all that, I just wrote new files and put them in object_server seems like you can rewrite almost the whole game (conceptually, not visually) from inside there.

:: I really need to get my laptop online so I can use Xfire to make this a more direct conversation.::

Yes, you can modify the vanilla zip files directly but it is better to use a separate file for your changes to make it easier to debug when you break something. It also makes it easier to move your changes to a new version if they release a new patch.

                    1) That's Pretty!
                    2) I don't modify BF directly, I just coppied the BF mods directory and started hacking away at it, seemed like a good way to break into the world of BF2 Modding. @jdrou
                    3) Collsion meshes aren't a problem for me atm because I am using the pre-existing models so you change the refrence name and the filename and the game can't tell that the AutoGL is the same looking as the Jackhammer...

                    4) I am going ot have to post this as soon as I finish modding a few more MEC based weapons and ALOT more of the chinese based ones. I am trying to make the US the Closerange Bad@$$es and the MEC the Longrange Terroists and then the Chinese the Explosive Whores.

                        Re: Weapon Modification Specifics

A bombinging Heli? That sounds dangerous... Where can I sign up as gunner ?

I want to add another boat to the game, it kinda sucks all we get for boats is that crappy little slick, I want like a gunboat type deal and I also want to make something that is like an AI controlled Missle battery that you can setup then laserpaint something on two occasions for a precise, minature, personal arty strike :) I also want to make BFG Gun emplacments, think arty cannons that you control directly. But these things require something I don't have, NEW MODELS... I wish I had 3D and texture Talent. I want to add alot of neat things for engis and Spec ops, those 2 classes are kinda shafted when you add everything up that I have changed... Like letting engis build walls or gun emplacements whereever, and also letting them or the Spec ops (pobally the ops, but maybe the engi for more teamwork, although tying them together could be tricky) build the said missle battery.

We SHOULD work on something together, you any good at modeling/texturing?

As of this moment I don't know after I try editing them I will look into that, really wanna see if I can reduce the opacity first, I haven't been working on it since I have the american army pretty much done I have been having fun "testing" it out, still need to put a sharp dropoff on DMG on the SAW, can dang near snipe with it, lol.

and @deveyus how do you increase the #of tracers per set of rounds?
