How do you get there? Give up: sex, booze, work, sleep, and play 24/7.

Join a clan or community. Its a lot more fun and productive when you play with other people in an organized fashion. I started running in clans a month after I got the game (that was in OCT 05) at around 13000 points, I left my last clan a little less than a year after I joined the first one, a few thousand points shy of 190000. I never once tried to get points or sat on my *** the whole weekend set on getting a promotion. I just played a lot because organized play made it fun. The best way to get points is to find something in the game or outside of it (clan) that makes you forget or not care about them. They come easy if you do that.

The problem is finding a clan that fits your style.

I know thats my problem anyways.

SPM isn't everything. You're definitally the best well-rounded player besides BushViper that I've seen in a long time.

Re: To all them generals and colonels, how did you get there?

Well im a 3 star general and have about 227,000 points.

Basically iv been playing from day of release and well if you look at my stats I have an average of about 2 hours a day

ok some weekends I would spend a sunday playing for over 8 hours ( ouch ) but most of the time is from suffering with insomnia and sitting up until 3-4am playing ( not good when you have to get in office for 10am )

A lot of people talk about playing 64man servers IO only with limited players. Lol there obviously is no thought goes into this as if you work out how long a round might last ( over an hour ) and you might get a score of 200 well that is no different playing on a mornal server which lasts 30 minutes a round and getting 100 per round.

Basically they best way to get good scores is to find a good squad. I have played with a clan for last 1 1/3 years and you will get used to playing a certain kits. Make sure your squad has a support, and as many medics as poss. You will find that you spend the majority of the round time in the action which means building up more points. A lot of time is wasted spawning and getting back into the action but if your squad keeps everyone alive you are in that action the whole time and your scores will sore.

I only average around 14 hours a week and it took me about 18 months to reach Colonel. It was a proud day let me tell you. It all boils down to hard work and putting in the hours. Many have reached that rank in much less time. Best way to go for mass points is playing IO servers. I usually score around 100 points per round and the average round is only up to 25 minutes sometimes. Swallow your pride and become a full blown medic whore, it's nasty but the best way to gain max points.

 i just enjoy all the kits, i've got you on xfire must play sometime!

my advice is tho dont burn out one kit, it may make you alot of points (trust me i whored out medic til around 20k points, must have had like 40 hours or more compared to like 5-10 on everything else)

dont always try to learn the kits but the weapons. alot of the guns handle similarly, and cross over alot. i mean assualt and medic have the same rifle (in most cases esp vBF2). choosing the right weapon for the enviroment i feel makes a great difference. a DAO is good close range, but on larger maps, is it better to go SMG/P90 or even spec-ops and use C4?

Squad up with clan mates/RL mates. Work as a team. Regardless of ground pounding, commanding, flying, tanking etc. That simple.

i think 95% of them got their ranks by playing karkand all the time, cos nearly everytime i get paired up one they ****ing suck at doing everything.

i think with mine half of it came from jets, with the other half being everything else.

whenever i play a ranked server it never gives me the points,...like when i go to bfhq it doesnt state that i got points..it does say that i got spec ops basic and stuff like that
