Probably a bug or hardcore spawn raping of carrier jetcampers =)

I'm doing pretty good for my time played, Just try and work with you team...

Also I do actually find it helps point wise to get on the better team because you don't get spawnraped half as much

well i'm kinda in dairuka's boat (cept his SPm kicks my ***)

i just got to major and i only have the veteran armour to go

slowly getting all the expert combat badges

best things to do are play with a set group of guys, this can either be in a squad/clan or with a few mates.

try and get yourself to be the squad medic, as you have good guns M16/Ak's and also get points for: healing, reviving, killing, flag capping, flag assists, kill assists etc

also it helps to get good in some form of vehicle, i'm quite a good chopepr pilot/gunner (i'd like to think i am anyway) and on some maps you can easily get aload of points (i'm thinking sharqui, its too damn easy to get air supremecy)

and just continue to play, have fun, and go get em!

Very true. All the guys with great win percentages, KDRs, etc... You really need to have a group to do it. 1 amazing player can do a lot of good for a team, but in a 64-man server 31 nubs and 1 amazing player on a team.... There's not a whole lot that one guy can do. Now, a squad of 6 fantastic players? They have a much better chance of turning the tides in their team's favor.

Not to mention it's just more fun to talk on vent and know your buddies have your back.

Here's a tip that has kept me form achieving the rank/s I should probably have: Play more than just spec-ops and flying helos/jets. That's about all I've done since I opened this account in '06 and I just now reached 50,000.

I recently started sniping and playing AT alot. As for the stat-padding kits like medic or gunner, those kits bore the shat out of me.

Re: To all them generals and colonels, how did you get there?

So in my experience for purposes of points and your sense of fun, you often go one of three routes in the game-

                  - Air whore. Attack helo or jet.
                  - Vehicles. Tank (some make a good run w/ APC.)
                  - I/O ... Infantry Only.

I chose the third and haven't looked back. I used to play for the purposes of winning the round, but then shifted to personal point score (though, really... it's worthless lol) and now my SPM is rising. How did I go from statistical schlep to better player?

                  - find the right servers to play on. Find servers that have a ping less than 70ms, that has the right map/type of game, then keep playing on that server consistently. As you grow more comfy playing on the same server, you will score more.

                  - find the right ppl to play with. I'm in a clan and many are as well, but often you can just find a clan and play with them without actually joining... again, it goes back to finding the right server... find a server with a clan that you get along with.

                  - pick one role that scores high and stick with it. Don't keep switching up for the particular need at hand. That may help win the round, but often you won't score crap (unless you already are a really good player.) Stay with one kit/vehicle/role until you notice marked improvement... then continue to stick with it!

                  - high scores are often combos of teamwork and combat, not just one or the other. You will sometimes find high scorers in a round that did one or the other, but for the most part it's those that did both well... at least this is the case in I/O. This often focuses you into certain roles... ones that can be easy to score at both with (read: medic or support in I/O.)

                  - get situational awareness. From personal I/O experience, On larger maps you can often kill many people because you know where everyone on the battlefield is, and too many other clueless victims do not. So watch and use your UAV extensively. Playing the same map a million times in a row helps with situational awareness, too... you know every corner, every approach.

                  - get your blood pumping. When I'm all nice and relaxed, I get slaughtered. When I've got my adrenaline pumping, I'm all over the place, killing, killing, healing, killing, reviving, healing, killing... nonstop. Once you've got a pace going, keep it up.

                  - play in a squad. But make it the right squad. If you play a server a few rounds, you'll find the 'productive ones' and they normally are in the same squads round after round... join those squads. A good squad leader is the fastest way to the next objective... as long as he is alive, you can spawn on him and get the jump on the enemy. This all goes back to the right server, too... if you find the same good players to play with, you can work in a cohesive fashion that will raise your SPM for sure.

That being said, to simply play to accumulate points, to try to get on the 'winning' team, to play the highest scoring kits, etc is not why I played BF2 to start with.

I get my points as they come, the way I want to play.

^^ with that being said, what if the way they want to play involves getting points etc

I can see why people like getting points, it does feel good getting badges and ranks and stuff. A lot of games lately are taking MMO-ish elements like that and using them. Xbox live does it by rewarding players for achievements in games, and 2142 takes it even a step further and makes you more powerful with unlocks and whatnot.

If you play solely to get points it can turn into an MMO-style grind, but if people want to play that way I'm not gonna stand in their way.

etf-danno pretty much provided a good answer. I think in the end though it just comes down to available game time. The more time you play, the more experience you get, the better you do, the more points you get.

Lessee, how to get to 100K ....average 2.5 hours of play time per day for a year. Do the best you can, and learn as much as you can. On the ground, the most points would come from either medic or support. (if you look at the Points Leader Board, you'll see those guys spent the most time as one of those) I would recommend medic so you can use those health packs on yourself (can't get any points if your dead)

As far as vehicles go, at first, go armor, and go after people to get the most points. Its true, there is lots of points to be had in helos and jets, but to get them, you have to be fairly good, and in the beginning, you'll spend more time dead, than racking up points.

I get your question. In the beginning it does seem like forever to get points. Your going to feel that way for about the first 50,000. Seems like your some kind of sargent forever. But here's the rub, once you get past that, you will have learned what it takes to get points and realize they can come fairly quickly. Instead of thinking about the march to 50,000, you'll be thinking about the next rank ...which is more like 10 to 15,000. It'll seem the steps come quicker.

Last thing, concentrate on learning skills, and the points will come. Be patient and don't get in a hurry. There are no shortcuts! (I noticed your Best Round Score - stat-padding at its finest) Don't go there, if there is a key, it would be Skills. GLHF

I agree. I would remake your account, since you will always be a candidate for a stats reset. It may not happen now, but it can and will be used as ammunition against you later on in your gaming life.

At first I played all map servers, 64slot, and tried to win gold every round which ever way I could. Which would be, jet whore, heli whore, tank whore, or just plain G36C whore.
