So now it begins. The competitors vs pubbers. The self-proclaimed 'elitists' vs the ignorant, unskilled masses.

Happens with every game. Just ignore them when they start talking about BF2.

To little too late and if they don't get it by now they never will.

Re: Admin @ EAUK BF2 forum is conducting BF2 feedback

Some of the changes I'm asking:

Tweak the J-10 so that the missiles can hit it equally as well as against the F-18 or the Mig-29

Tweak the F-35B so that it can dodge the missiles equally as well as the F-18 or the Mig-29.

Increase the lethal radius of the grenade launchers

More "fluid" transition when you are restricted to fire your weapons when you are about to jump or prone.

Adjust the sights or crosshairs on the MR-2000, AK-101, SVD, and other weapons so that the iron sights are at point with the crosshairs. There's a thread about this, can anyone link it to me?

Deal with the recent information of how to wall-hack without any hacks or cheats.

Recognize that Battlefield 2 isn't a game that can die so easily in a few years like their other published games. They made a great game that now has a great community.

Increase the duration the Phalanx gun can fire at a constant and continuous rate, decrease the cooldown time when it's locked up, and increase its armor.

Ground Anti-AA weapons need to have its range increased.

Increase the damage of the mini-guns and the machine guns on the transport helicopters. NOT their splash damage radius however.

Let the M95 deal some significant damage against transports and the ability to destroy or disable explosives such as mines and claymores.

Thanks for reading my post Rocket child and anyone else who did. I opened an account at the EAUK site shortly after I bought BF2. Even though I believe that it still exists I can no longer access it. I guess the players (me included) in the US arent welcome there. Oh well, I would love to be able to post there but I just cant log on. Be that as it may, They still have a pretty good site there. . . . . . . . .Red

I think you guys missed the point of the thread...

They are not talking about what to change in BF2, but what you would like in a future game... And what to do and not to do in a future game...

Note that they are talking bout BF2 in past tense...

I remember you used to post a lot inthe suggestion threads when they were up here at TBF2.

I would like to get access to them for a few hours because I had a lot of stuff in those threads, well worded out.

@Rocket child i read your post on here and this is what i came up with it is long but only takes a minute or two to read. Although i must add it is more aimed at the next BF game as i cant honestly see much being done to BF2 as it would cost EA a fortune to fix there past mistakes.

I've been playing since the day the demo was released (actually my account that i use was made for the demo i just carried it over) and have a total 664.89 hours of ranked play. Although i have played custom maps and the mods constantly all the way through so Ive probably got another 700 hours playing custom stuff.

Note: Out of the 664.89 hours of ranked play I've got less than 15 hours playing SF and the Mrs bought me SF when it came out and gave it to me the month or so after for Christmas (i was actually looking really forward to it once i found out she had bought it me). Euroforces i bought myself probably the day it came out and i have a pitifully 3.45 hours logged playing that booster.

The SF expansion I'm really not impressed about for vbf2 i used to have :-

                        Pentium 4 3.6Ghz dual processor
radeon x700 (something or another) 128mb
                        1 gig of of DDR400
160 gig SATA HD (plus another one to save all my data to)

And i used to be able to run vBF2 at Medium settings with a 1024 * 768 resolution no problem (FPS around 40) i got SF and it lagged terribly at times so i spent.

£120 on a gainward bliss 6800 GLH 512mb (which out performed in benchmark test a lot of 7000 series cards actually it whooped there arses in tests)
£60 on another gig of performance ram
£60 on a new liberty emerex PSU

With that i could run vbf2 everything on high with a 1024*768 resolution and get an FPS of 90 vbf2 was better than ever (i was very pleased with that). SF though still lagged like hell at times so i ran more tests and found a tiny error on my HD and pecked my computer manufactures heads until they replaced it. But hey guess what SF still doesnt work properly after all that money time and effort (I'm seriously not impressed) then there's the added fact there's hardly any servers running.

Bf 2142 i really like the idea of it but after playing the demo i wasn't impressed it was to archadey and seriously dumbed down compared to vBF2. I have however reconsidered buying it when i saw it for less than half price (i think it was only £10 or £15) only a couple of months after its release (from games a UK chain store). Then i remembered all the magical unlocks you get in BF2142 of increased stamina, increased armour, increased grenade count better weapons and i quickly changed my mind. I want a fair balanced game i don't want to start out at a massive disadvantage just because I've not been playing the game from the beginning and don't have a load of unlocks (I'm already disadvantaged because i don't know the map & i don't know the best tactics, dieing a lot does not equal fun in my book).

Anyway onto the main reason for this post to start of with everything I'm suggesting below is not to be fixed in a patch it's for the next version of battlefield. Because the community is that divided atm anything i suggested and probably most suggestions by other people would cause WWIII & massive flames and more than likely EA/Dice would be unable to patch it in anyway.

Battlefield 2 suffers problems relating to :

My main problem atm is the complete and total dominance of karkand & IO mode in this game its actually pretty hard to find a half descent 64 man server running a nice selection of maps. This problem is also further compounded by the fact that the servers that are running a nice selection of maps are also running some booster pack maps. And i only own Euroforces (currently uninstalled) and i wouldn't buy Armoured assault because i really don't think i got value for money from Euroforces it was terrible in fact IMO. So basically since the 1.4 patch vanilla BF2 has been unplayable for me EA/Dice has basically patched me out of vanilla game play.

The other main problems with VBF2 are the blatant imbalances in the game the bugs & the rampant cheating but i wont list these problems as much as there going to be covered in nearly every post. Kit selection i do think you got wrong in a really bad way as well you had the great idea that anyone can be any class which sounds brilliant. In fact though what it leads to are maps were nearly every single player is either a sniper or medic and when that happens it means all the hard work you at EA/Dice put in for the other classes goes to waste and its such a shame.

EA/Dice has probably also missed out in a big way with the way you've totally ignored single player you've properly missed out on millions in revenue. Because there are so many people out there with PCs without an Internet connection or there just not interested in online play because of all the silliness that comes with it. You could of also used Single player as a way to train people up in the use of the vehicles and how to play as a squad which would of been a terrific help in the online element of the game and made the online experience much more enjoyable.

I want to mention the Ranking system as well i honestly think you've done yourselves a massive disservice by the way you've implemented the ranking system. You gave us all these tools to encourage teamwork as in Voip, squads, squad leaders being able to issue orders and request stuff from the commander & commanders to guide the squad leaders and support them. You have literally wiped all that out in one fowl swoop though by the way the Ranking system has been implemented. Having the ranking system was a BRILLIANT IDEA but you've not implemented it in the right way as in the ranking system rewards individuals so much more than team players. So everyone is running around in game thinking what can i do to maximise my own points instead of what can help the team the most which will get me even more points than if i lone wolf/solo.

Battlefield 2 could have been much improved if :

I'm going to list my suggestions here :-

                        1) BFROE should of been out the day the game was released to give people guidelines on whats acceptable in game so peoples online experience is the best it possibly can be.

                        2) A reworking of the ranking system so it encourages team play as much as possible instead of the me me me attitude of getting as many points as possible. Which leads to some of the worst elements of the game IO mode karkand 24/7 & Tking for vehicles. As it is you may as well rename bf2 to Karkand 24/7 because that's what the majority of people play in vanilla bf2.

                        3) The M95 should of never been able to shot team mates out of the seats of aircraft because that's probably what it is predominantly used for because the accuracy is terrible.

                        4) You should of implemented kit limiting just so you don't get rounds were 30 out of the 64 players are running around as sniper doing sod all for there team and tking each other at the airfield trying to get a jet or heli.

                        5) A limited queuing system of sorts for vehicles would be nice as in if you run to the airfield and get to a certain point you can get to Que for the Jet then go of and do whatever needs doing on the map. And then when the plane becomes available you then get the choice of yes or no if you still want to get into the jet (like for map votes & stuff), then you get instantly teleported into the jet. And when i say a limited queuing system i mean say only 3 people can in the Que at a time so you don't get the entire team running towards the jet and all trying to Que up at once.

                        6) A proper single player mode so players can learn how to use all the different type of vehicles and weapon systems in game.

                        7) BF2 would of been much better of if pb had never of been used and you had of created your own anti cheat client because in EVERY single game pb is used it always gets bypassed. And I'm guessing (i don't know for a fact) that the cheaters are using similar sort of methods to bypass pb that they do in every game.

Get the websites closed down that sell BF hacks if you cant get them closed down get the big search engines like Google to stop listing those sites when people search for them.

                        9) Give improved voip so you can talk to other people that are in the same vehicle as you but don't happen to be in the same squad. Also give the commander the ability to talk to individual squad leaders instead of spamming every squad leader with useless information.

                        10) Random deviation was the worst idea ever bring back a recoil/skill based system.

                        11) Support the clans and communities by setting up official BF tournaments & leagues run by EA/Dice for BF were people pay a couple of quid a week to play in them. There are literally millions of people around the UK alone that pay subs to play in teams like the local pool team, the Sunday league football team, 5 a side teams, the local darts team. If you ran it right you could make yourselves money out of the leagues and tournaments and give the people what they want structured game play without any of the grifers driving people mad. Doing something like this would also encourage people to join clans/communities more meaning they could possibly run more servers making the game much better when it comes to selecting servers.

                        12) Support the modders as much as possible give them proper tools to mod the game and proper tutorials on how to use the tools you've provided them. Then give them guide lines on what you want of them to do to eventually get there mod or map ranked maybe through a community based competition. Only a very limited number though but if you did it right people could get free new content and you could cut down massively on development costs. And if your smart recruit from the modders or offer a limited internship at EA to the winner of a modding competition (if there no good sack them at the end of it) that would go down unbelievably well with the community you would get people just buying this game just to mod and to try and get the internship. And what have you got to lose buy doing it you get to cherry pick top talent get free content for your customers keeping them happy (and it costs you nothing) and still make money through your ranked servers (see section 13 for what i mean about that).

                        13) From what i understand EA makes very little money from ranked servers (if any, IF that's true) and the majority of your money comes from selling units of the game and its expansion pack and the booster packs. Well IMO the expansion pack & the booster packs were a massive failure (so was bf 2142) and you've wasted your time and money doing that. So basically what I'm suggesting is you change your business model of how you make money. What i recommending you do is scrap the idea of selling as many units as possible and trying to get as much money of the community as possible and give people free content constantly (made by the community and bit of your own) to attract as many people as possible to your game and make the largest FPS community the world has ever seen.

And to supplement your lost income what i suggest is you make a profit from leasing ranked servers (that's why you need to support clans/communities and you can make money out of it as well). You need to slim down the stats though the sheer number of useless stats that are included with the ranking system is ridiculous (why on earth do i need to know I've got a 30% accuracy with a hand grenade ? am i just crap at throwing nades or did 7 out 10 people see the nade and run ?). So get rid of as many silly stats as possible bringing down the price of running a ranked server so you can actually have more clans/communities running ranked servers and you can make a profit out of all these ranked servers as well.

                        14) For your new BF game have open beta's for the patches all the way through like you did towards the end of bf2 and get the community to test the crap out it. You either simply don't have enough beta testers or there crap at there job because the quality of some of the patches that have been released during BF2 life time were terrible.

                        15) When developing the new BF game i suggest you have a look at mount & blade and how that game is being developed its a very novel and interesting way its being developed. And with the kind of backing EA has they could easily make the best FPS game ever made if they follow that model. What it is is mount & blade is still a beta and still being developed but what the developer is doing (mainly due to lack of funds) is selling mount & blade at a discount while hes developing it. So he gets an army of beta testers and some revenue while developing that game. And i personally think EA should think about doing the same thing but only in a limited number and under strict circumstances with a proper NDA and all that.

As in sell say maybe something like 5,000 to 10,000 CD keys to the new game at a discount price of say £20 (so when the full game comes out they get it for £20 and can download it through the EA down loader but don't have to pay for it because they've already got there CD key) which I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to do. And then get your army of beta testers with all there different spec equipment and different styles of game play to rip your beta to peaces and find all the bugs, imbalances & glitches for you before release. Which i personally think was one of the worst things about bf2 the state of the game when it was shipped.

P.s. If you do that send me an invite to buy a CD-key i don't mind testing for you and i will give you a fair & honest opinion if you tell me what your trying to achieve.

                        16) Have different online modes with the game when its released the one and only game mode we've got is very limiting and honestly gets boring after a while. Trying looking at Project realities AAS mode that mode included in vanilla BF2 would of been a serious touch of class and changed the dynamic of the game greatly.

                        17) If you want to make a bit of extra money when the games released sell a collectors edition (similar to how medieval 2: Total war has) were we get a DVD of you guys going down to the shooting range firing some rounds of and having a laugh. Or you go visit the real army and watch them blow stuff up it would be interesting to watch (basically the making of bf2). Slap in a real instruction manual (the manual you provide is a joke) as well with a limited edition BF mouse Matt or something else and I'll put money on it it sells at a nice mark up.

1 The badges you made a mistake with as well not all of them just some of them you couldn't of probably foreseen what people were going to do to get them but you could of guessed or changed it requirements . The worst badge you had in game was the explosive badge IMO you should of linked that badge to bridge demolitions and the destruction of commanders assets. Instead you linked it to kills which lead to people running around with nothing but C4 in there hand throwing it at the enemy blowing there selves up the enemy and half a dozen team mates.

                        19) BF2 would of been a far better game if you approached the actual patching process slightly different. From what i recall in nearly every single patch you've tinkered with the numbers that control things like armour, recoil, deviation and all that bumph. Instead though you could of tried things like slightly editing the maps, on mashurate city (a brilliant map but totally underplayed) I'm guessing that's were you got most of your complaints about the BH being overpowered. There was an easy solution and it would of saved you so many head aches (changing things every patch to the AA & BH must of done your heads in) you could of just slapped in a couple of AA kits randomly around the map and tried and balance things out that way. And the way you could of tested that map was to release it as a mini mod and setup an unranked server or two playing it and then had feed back through a questionnaire (to stop yourself getting bombard with silliness from forums).

                        20) What ever happened to the buddy list you promised us from the start that would of made playing regular with certain people so much easier.

Battlefield 2 did this well :

                        It looks really good.

The attempt to encourage teamwork with features like Voip, squads & the commander.

Actually Voip on its own deserves massive praise that has to your best innovation for teamwork. Shame you made it a server side option so it could be turned of by the clan/community that runs the server.

                        The vehicles work really well.

The road to jalalabad map was a great edition to vanilla so was wake.

Ranks being displayed in game was actually a good idea in some ways (not the unlock bit). For me in game when i join a squad i look at there ranks and use that as an indicator of experience (not skill). If i see a low ranking sergeant in a squad full of other low ranks ill be less inclined to join that squad incase they haven't got a clue and get me killed all the time doing silly things. I know this method doesn't always hold true (some people have multiple accounts) but its not bad as a guide especially if i tie that into them using Voip if there using Voip its major bonus for them teamwork wise..

BF2 was a great game and could of been one of the all time greats and still could be if you support the mod community (Desert combat made a great game bf1942 into a legend and directly lead to BF2). And when i say all time i don't say that likely as I've been playing computer games since the eighties so eye candy is nice but I'll take playability over that any day.

EDIT: I've changed and added a load of stuff.

I hope you're not serious, accuracy is fine it is the ****ing hit boxes that make things impossible to hit, that should fixed not accuracy... go to consoles if you want auto-aim.

and whoever mentioned night maps... phi, it's been tried in SF and it didn't live for too long, did it?

I've seen so many bad suggestion in this very thread that I don't really think EA can fix that game even if they listened to the biggest and most hardcore BF2 nerd out there.

                            oh lololol cmon....

i dont need auto aim, i can headshot anyone in an instant in other games where weapons are more accurate. bf2 has bullet drop, random cone of fire and recoil. other games just have recoil.
if you dont believe me, well tough...

maybe that' the problem then. Maybe only sniper rifles should be allowed for 1 shot kills and the shot gun weapons at close range. Someone over there suggested that and I thought it was a good idea. Games like this would do better if you removed the 1 shot kills from assaults weapons. There is no reason why PKM and RPK should have 1 shot kills. However, on the flip side MP5, P90 and other similar weapons should not need so many hits in order to score a kill either. I mean come on who goes totting around in a P90 or MP5 (all the time) when in a TWL match?

a headshot from a big powerful gun should kill instantly, theres clearly no reason why they shouldnt.

p90 and mp5 take more hits to kill(tis only like 1 more bullet needed to the chest) because its not the kits speciality, the AT rocket is what that kit is used for, the weaker guns are there to protect yourself not as a fight everyone at any distance weapon. other people in your squad should be using their better guns to save you. it takes abit of common sense to see why they made the weapons like they are and dice were right to do that.

making ALL weapons more accurate wouldnt ruin the game, it would make 1vs1 gun fights a little shorter and the player that cant aim as quickly or accurately dies.
as it is currently infantry fighting can be very frustrating at times, with perfect aim not being rewarded because the bullet doesnt go where you were aiming.

sniper rifles should be 1 hit 1 kill, but to please the avg whiny player they nerfed it to only the head. so now they can be careless, if they get hit, theres little chance of death, which defeats the point of sniping

things like that will NEVER change in bf2, if they make a bf3 who knows if they will give us decent weapons but that is why they created the feedback thread, to give them ideas how they should make a new game.
