Well I watched the video yes the guy is amazing with the TV. Is he using macros or the G15 keyboard> (all explots btw)

But more to the point I didnt see an effective COD.

Now I know Stephensolo knows all about real COD's - so he can confirm

I'd rather fly solo than with a noob any day. I'm not saying soloing is good, it's only good if there is no good gunners or pilots around. It is always better to fly with a good gunner or pilot rather than by yourself.

Bad Gunners:
- lonewolf, no voip
- open chain gun on a target that is unaware of our position
- don't know how to fire a TV guided missile
- can't direct TV guided missile at a target
- fire chain gun at infantry while pilot is directing them to TV a vehicle

Bad Pilots:
- lonewolf, no voip
- don't know how to use flares/don't use flares
- can't control aircraft at crucial moments
- can't evade enemy fire(APC's, mounted turrets, AT fire, etc.)
- unaware as to when chopper is damaged
- unaware if gunner is low on ammo
- attack vehicles with missiles, regularly ending with crashing into trees

If you have anything to add to this list, by all means please, I most likely missed something.

are you blind or retarded? the whole point of doing a COD is to chain-gun infantry. did you not see him circling the US main base (on the 16-player dragon valley map) switching to the gunner seat of the z-10 and mowing down infantry with the chain-gun? did you expect the chopper to keep circling continuously on it's own with him in the gunner seat? stupid ignorant pubnub.

to do a clockwise COD (looking towards the ground from the air), roll to the left (move mouse left) and steer to the right (right arrow key or "d") and throttle up and down to control the circle. for counter-clockwise, do the opposite.

So is how to solo a trade secret? What are some tips? I think someone once said turn to the left a little before switching to TV to counter the spin. That's all I've heard though. Is it really a case of just constantly switching quickly back and forth?

Also I noticed that I can set the gunner view on almost any key, but lets say I set the pilot view to a key.....it never works. The only key that switches me back to pilot is F1. Anyone else have this? Noob, out

Funny that, that's how I turn but it never ocurred to me to do that to get into a spin. I was using just the mouse and throttle.

it's not hard to solo at all. BUT, you have to be a competent pilot and a competent gunner, BEFORE you become a good soloer. i still use the default keys, F2 to switch to gunner, right-click to go into TV mode and left click to fire/target. practice in single-player to be able to do that as quickly as possible while sitting on the pad. then start practicing on stationary targets while flying. initially, you might have to keep your target to the right of your chopper crosshairs to account for the time it takes to switch seats and fire and the fact that the chopper spins towards the right without a pilot. after getting the hang of it, you won't even have to think, it'll just come automatically. tilting to the left reduces the spin and you definitely need to do this when flying the Tiger HAP in EF because that chopper just drops like a rock even with a very slight dive and is very hard to recover.

playing with bots is also a good way to practice soloing (16-player daqing oilfields, dragon valley).

to turn quickly, you roll to the right (or left) and steer to the right (or left). to do a COD, it's opposite, roll in one direction and steer in the opposite direction.

Soloing isn't a trade secret: rather, it's an effective way of using the heli without requiring assistance from another player. Without insulting anyone, most of the good players go through a phase of disgust at the thought of random people flying or gunning with them, so they learn soloing... and once you've learned that, you never fully go back. It takes another good player to convince you of doubling up, heh...

I really, truely, 100% honestly think that all this solo chopper BS that's happening now is Sloi's fault! Really. Its his damn videos where he basically shows how easy it is. Now, I know he's gonna say people were doing it before him, but his videos posted on this forum are what's been viewed, then recreated by others, and viewed. Its all his freakin' fault. My 2 cents at least.

Sloi was definately not the first solo'er... he probably started doing it after seeing videos too.

BTW.. warchild.87 could be alot more effective if he had a little more angle in the COD... I find for solo-chaingunning you need about a 35-40 degree angle (sometimes 45 or 50 if the area is tight) and you can get 3/4 of a spin before you have to switch back and set yourself up again.
