Re: BF2 at world Cyber Games VOTE!!!
Again, looks like you have never played in a scrim. When where there dogfights in matches? unless your playing operation crap sweep, there is no jets in matches. The other 2 have been fixed in patches.
Yes and no, It may not be the most competitive game in the world, but it is till very competitive(especially with pro). There are so many strats for every map, its ridiculous, and keeps the game alive. Also, many new custom maps have been added in, that keeps the competition nice and fresh.
If you break it down...
Helo's - Take much skill to keep up in air, there is no forgiveness, and one of the most skilled parts of this game.
Tank - just like above, there are pixel shots, and no "forgiveness", unlike in 2142, where tanks have zoom, and they hold your hand.
Commander - have to know when arty is coming, when to arty helo pad, spot spamming, etc. again, no "noob friendliness" about it.
Infantry- The only exception, due to cone of fire, etc. BFpro fixes this.
So all aspects of the game are very skill biased, combine that with the conquest game mode, make competition great. In BF2, its more about strats+teamwork than about individual player skills (but still plays a big part)
I know when they made the game, there were not like "Lets make this game be the main show at CPL" etc, but they defiantly had competition in mind When making the game, especially with the balance of the 16 player maps.
Edit: sorry if this is all jiberish
