I wish more little kids would play 2142 instead of "reverting" to BF2.
i agree the little kids playing BF2 are ANNOYING and are a waste of team tickets cuz they dont know when to shut up , who or where the enemy is!!

BF2 is a very great game thats why i still play it this day!! i just wish dice and ea put more support into this game!! and fixing all the bugs in it would be great to the bf2 community!!

my friend is still convinced that 2142 is the **** and that battlefield 2 sucks compared to it
i'v played the demo for 2142, does anyone get the feeling that the terrain for 2142 looks REALLY freakin fake?

IMO, gameplay is better and more interesting for 2142. More ways to customize your kit. So the engineer class can fill many different roles for example.

Its really sad that some of you comment on 2142 yet have never played it.
Seriously, go a play it for like 10 hours and see if your opinion doesn't change.
IMO, its way more intersting than bf2, however the biggest downfall is the maps, as they are bland and get boring quick(100 hours). Thats one of the biggest things they need to incorporate.

And you can't compare sales really because we were ALL waiting for bf2 for almost three years with nothing new, so it was hyped MUCH more than 2142.
And also all the crap we went through with BF2 put a big damper on 2142.
Balance? pffttt.... SUPPORT KIT! This is the absoulute worst since BFV's Law/M60 deal. I would bet that 60% of all players in the games are using that kit. You get an uber accurate 100 round assault weapon that gets MORE accurate as you fire, you get unlimited ammo and nades, you get a freak sentry gun that can snipe at 100 yards and gives you kills, you can freeze any vehicle, drop a freakin sheild, see the invisible recons, and soon you will get your own personal UAV! Yea right... balance...

2142 like BF:V is just a filler until they can start on BF3 (i hope BF3 will exist)

not too many people bought BF:V either

Having NOT bought 2142 myself, I decided to do a little research into it and discovered to my utter joy that he was completely wrong. The community most definitely has NOT embraced 2142 in anything even close to the numbers that it jumped on the BF2 bandwagon. According to Next Generation, BF2142 came in at #95 on the list of 100 top-selling games in the North American market for 2006, with only 220,000 copies sold, and $12 million in gross revenue. That's counting Oct, Nov, and Dec, 2006, whereas BF2, after only 2 months on shelves, had sold 1.2 MILLION copies worldwide--so unless the rest of the planet has bought a million copies of 2142, then it looks like Dice/EA are getting the pounding they deserve!
music to my ears:laugh: :p and the nxt big thing to hit the battlefield is just around the corner! check the link.

Dude, I don't understand this mentality. Maybe you can explain it to me. What incentives would there need to be in the game, to make you want to win?

For myself, I want to win as a base desire, built into my personality. I don't need incentives.

Perfect example of a game trying to keep everyone happy, and watering down individual classes so that everyone 'pwns'.
Compare early QWTF to TFC (huge changes)... Compare CS 1.3 -> CS:S (CS:S is easy headshot city).

It's way more fun working with a class that has weaknesses, then you learn ways to work around them.

Anyone remember the dualies in Counterstrike? Some were good with them, others complained that they couldn't hit **** with them.. I became a Master at dualies. All I did was ignore they had weaknesses, and instead played to their strength. I played for a solid couple of weeks to a month, taking my lumps (many deaths finding out what worked/what didn't). Soon I was 'sniping' people with the dualies, and tearing them up close range. I was accused of hacking many times because of this, but it was only out of consistent practice with the dualies that I became a master with them - against the popular M16's and AK47's and AWPs in that game.

Nowadays, they water down everything... in WoW you can see the watering down of classes to keep everyone happy. I'll laugh when I see the day a Rogue can do a "Prayer of Meditation" to heal himself and others... while the Priest (who should be a healer) is "Mage-ing" it up against multiple enemies.... <vomit>

I long for the days when a team consisted of classes that depended on each other for the team's success. A medic was NOT an assault class, a sniper was NOT an assault class, an assault guy WAS an assault class, a supply guy was a SUPPORTING class, etc. But EA wanted to keep all of us whiners happy, so they allowed non-sniping classes to snipe, while the sniper has to get a perfect shot each time to take us out....

I didn't buy it, and the dozen or so I play with didn't either.

To be honest I'm glad it's not doing as well as BF2, hopefully it will make EA think about the community, rather than their pockets... then again, maybe not

They should just learn how to beta-test stuff before releasing games or subsequent patches.. that would go a long way.

Re: EA gets hit by the karma bus: BF2142 sales

I doubt they will get the message. As long as it somewhat sells, they are happy. Now lets see how the next game does. If they do it like BF2 and 2142 then hopefully we can see the sales at less than half of 2142. Now either they will finally get it through their thick skulls that the community is taking them to the woodshed or they will take it as a sign that battlefield type games are no longer wanted. Chances are that they will see the latter because they are so clueless.

I just hope this opens the door for a serious competitor to come blow them out of the water. That is the only way the battlefield games are going to get good again.

Re: EA gets hit by the karma bus: BF2142 sales

I personally didn't purchase 2141 for 2 reasons. The first being as someone mentioned is all the classes seem blurred to me. I played for a while, and frankly I couldn't tell much difference between what each class was suppose to do.

The second reason I didn't buy it, and I don't think this has been mentioned, is I'm not a fan of "future" combat. I know Bf2 isn't real or truly realistic, but having "realistic" vehicles as least look wise, makes the game appealing to me.

My real question is will EA ever remake a Modern Combat game for PC again like BF2? Or will we have to wait for an alternative, something like a more polished Joint Operations?

Re: EA gets hit by the karma bus: BF2142 sales

I'm glad EA are taking it deep with 2142. Why haven't we seen them brag about the sales like they did with BF2? Why haven't we seen them brag about how many people are playing it online as they did with BF2? Why because there isn't anything to brag about and they know it. More people play BF2 online to this day than 2142.

For me being an Aussie and seeing 2142 selling for RRP of $119.95 when BF2 was RRP of $89.95. Do they think we are dumb? They must have. Any game that is over $100 here is commercial suicide and EA slashed their own wrists because they were greedy.

Top it off with the in-game ads. All this extra line of revenue which they promised would provide better support and extra content for FREE. Where is the free content? Where is the better support? Non existent. Not only that they weren't up front about the spyware. They tried to hide it and not tell anyone. If you think its not spyware well answer me why Aussie's don't get the ads? I'll tell you why because we have a spyware bill and the in-game ad system in 2142 is classified as spyware by Australian law. That is a fact!

For me the best games in the BF franchise which I had the most fun with were BFV and SF. Strangely enough both done by DICE Canada. What does EA do when they take over DICE? Shut down DICE Canada. Sure they screwed up all the patches but BFV and SF were really fun games.

yeah, I have to agree, SF is a lot of fun. It took a video card upgrade to enjoy it, but now, I very much enjoy it. Your correct about the patches, sad...and to bad they could not port over their innovations to BF2Vanilla with zip lines and grapple hooks. As for where the money is going for ads? Pish, I have their stock [ERTS] in my autoview list and I have watched it side over the last few months. I hope it keeps this trend too. I always felt (though I hoped differently) that they were just going to keep business as usual, and add any extra money they made as icing on the cake, side-line profit items to help their stock and not the community.

And the useless vehicles..... to many idiots that complained in BF2 got what they deserved in 2142, every vehicles sucks... but it is easy to use. For example, the gunships cant kill crap, but they practically fly themselves. You also move 1/2 the speed, and cannot shoot till like 10 minutes after you land from a jump. Might as well have everyone sit still, thats what the firefights are in that game... to make it easier for the terrible scrubs...

I'll say it again, BF2142 is a noob friendly, "whine" version of BF2. GG EA, they killed competition, and with the unlocks, they are digging themselves into a really big hole.
