I don't really understand what kind of badge is easier to get on a sniper only server. I was just scrolling server list and ended up on the Sn][per server. After I realized it was sniper only it was really good fun. Extremely low scores and so on, but definitely worth of a try. If you want badges and score, stay out of these. But if you want some challenges, this is great fun, because those Sn][per guys are damn good.

There's no real reason why it's not allowed, since you get absolutely zero advantage getting any badge whatsoever and SPM is very low. But we all know ROE

It limits the class and flags; that's a direct violation of ROE. They are now claiming they only suggest you use the sniper kit, but everytine we investigate we see players kicked for NOT using the sniper kit. We also see players kicked for crossing a road or water. The sole reason for having a Ranked Sniper only map is to pad, otherwise they would run it UNRANKED.

If Sn][per would run their server UNRANKED then they would never have to change GSP's. But they dont because they want the Expert Sniper Badge.

I don't know much about them, but if you want to snipe, sniper only server is the worst place to do that. Sniper badges are about time and kills and kills IAR. Now if you'd ever have played on the Sn][per server you'd know what it's like. You do not get high kills or scores. You do get time, but you can do that on any server. So where's exactly the padding thing? I know it's stupid to run it ranked because you get so low scores and bad K/D there, but still.

So basically what I would like to do is to have some sniper combat practice (it's a whole another world on sniper only servers I know) but of course I'm not allowed to do that because it'd be too challenging so I have to go rape noobs on 24/7 karkland server right? On sniper only server I get 10 kills IAR with K/D of 1 and in karkland I get 50 kills with K/D of five. So which one is padding? Or I could go earn my "expert sniper badge" on 24/7 jalalabad server. Dragunov + nearly zero enemy sniper presence means 10:1 K/D at least and huge amount of kills with very little effort.

A little common sense is allowed. I know server is breaking rules by enforcing kits, but still. How do they benefit from it? Why would anyone even report a server like that? Because he's getting owned there? Most likely.

Quick question: If badges arent required to rank up (mostly), and you dont need badges to get unlocks, whats the fuss about? I say if they want to spend hours playing on the same maps with the same weapons to get an e-badge, let them, no harm done. You cant call it statpadding if they arent getting anything rewarded outside of more sniper experience.

Play on a Sniper only Ranked server for 100 hours, learn tactics in an eviroment that stops you from being gunned down by other classes. then go to any server and get your Expert badge. Thats padding in every sense of the word. Dont get me wrong, Some of the snipers that play on those servers are lethal.

Its absolutley no different from playing on a Knife and Pistol only server.

If it wasn't about padding they would run them Unranked.

Which raises another question: Why does BFROE allow IO mode, if that fundamentally changes the game far worse than sniper groups servers? IO = statpadding to be honest.

Because EA put it in the patch, they were illegal before the patch. I happen to agree with you on this.

No, they are not bad because they are getting good, if that was their sole intent then they would play on Unranked servers and get good. They are playing on Ranked servers to get around the normal game functions and scoring system.

Oh, no, wait. EA/DiCE created IO mode, which has nothing to do with BFROE. They are two completely seperate entities, and the folks at BFROE are providing a service to us players.

My point stands: IO isnt Battlefield 2, its counter-strike, and EA should never have put it in.

That must be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Now it's official: ROE is absolutely irrational, I'll never waste my time on anything related to it becasue it's absolutely useless if people think like that.

I can see your point though, about getting good. But being good on a sniper only doesn't mean you're good on a normal server. Sniper only is mostly shooting stationary targets and just waiting until he pops his head up. At least on Sn][per server CQB isn't even allowed, so it's basically camping in places where you wouldn't even be on normal server and using tactics that only work against an army of snipers (very rare on real normal servers TBH, but absolutely possible though). Nothing compared to Karkland bunnyhop-SVD-craziness.

it blows my mind that you could ask that. nobody would use their rifle. it would turn into K&P except with grenades and claymores. (K&P&G&C ???) if you really want sniper practice go to ghost town (assuming you have SF). i dont play there anymore because if you stop for 2 seconds, you will get your head blown off. even if you are shielded by 4 buildings, one sniper will have you in his sights.

Exactly. If it's ranked, what does it matter? People arent getting high cap poitns, high medic points, high support points, high repair points, high kills or anything like that. I can make 120 points as a MEC medic in Karkand IO far easier than I can make even half that in a sniper server.

Ok fine, but then by this logic it would be wrong to put in your 100hrs as any class, the jump in a jet and get your kills for the badge. You didn't "earn" it shooting people, you earned it bombing the hell out of them. I would call that stat padding too then.

You want to talk stat padding? IO is nothing more then that. I can get 100+ on most IO servers. On regular servers ground pounding it's around 50. Tell me that isn't really stat padding. It has changed the whole dynamic of the game, allowing way more points then you can get in a regular server. I'm waiting for EA to finally allow K&P servers.

learn sniper in common BF2 environment......that way there, you wont have to re-learn everything as it corresponds to actual gameplay....

ppl who play on servers that limit kits, or weapons, really take away from the skills they SHOULD BE gaining in common combat scenerios, but cannot due to their experience in stat-padding environment
