Cone of fire + pray and spray = wtf?

God im really getting sick of this. Im like sneaking up to a support while he is firing COMPLETELY opposite of me, I stab, doesnt kill the hes still facing the other way ( let me say COMPLETELY the other way) and it says he kills me, god. Than im fighting supports and they just jumping around spraying like a bunch of effing noobs. >_> gayness.
Its basicly come to the point they're so inaccurate its accurate.

Welcome to BF2. Simply point your gun in their direction and roll the dice. You pretty much have to run up to them, put your gun down their throat, and even then you might miss.

True skill in BF2 isn't having fast fingers, and tweak aim.

No, the true skill in BF2 is improving the odds to your favor.

Like Blackjack, if you know what cards have been played, you'll beat the house every time.

As someone posted in another topic, BF2 shouldn't be a game of lucky shots, it should be a game of skill, where the gun accuracy is consistent.

You can figure out how to beat the house every time? What are you doing here on the forums? Go make yourself rich in Vegas!

I think the problem with your getting killed while the support guy is looking the other way has to deal with the fact that the bullets originate from the players body, not the gun. I think it shoots from somewhere near the chest/gut...

Then again, I could just be talking out of my ***. Can anyone else confirm or refute this?

I know I don't have any evidence, but neither did the US when they attacked Iraq for possession of WMDs.

I really believe that with the 'randomness' programmed into the game, you will stand a better chance of hitting an enemy at long-range... I found this in Counterstrike - you could snipe at someone and miss, or switch to pistol and randomly shoot at their very small pixels -- and they'd die.

You should try the magic 'last bullet' in your clip. You will find more times than not you will get a critical hit on your enemy almost every time.. Why does this happen? Some built in mechanism to make people go "WOw, I pullled the most amazing shot with only 2 bullets left!" - Yet it happens too much to be coincidence.

Does the last round phenomena occur withthe sniper rifles?

Dave i know what you mean, and yes i think your probably right. For example, you put your gun right up agaist a wall, you fire, but the bullet holes arent at the tip of the barrel of your gun, their exactly on the crosshairs. The gun is just a visual, firing weapons mostly come directly from your guy to the crosshairs. I think its the same thing with tanks too.

i dont think thats the problem though

                          1) if you have troubles knifing, than pistol. If you have trouble pistoling, then rpk-74. If you have trouble rpk-74ing, either stop playing bf2 or claymore/grenade spam.

                          2) it might not seem like it but it might be your/servers ping. I find that when you engage someone in cqc, time seems to really slow down, and what seems like 1 second might be 40 milliseconds. He probably did gun you down properly and not pray and spray a 180 degree bullet ricochet to your head. So ping probably made it look like he was facing the other way.

I bet the (crappy) hitboxes while prone + bullets begining from the chest of the model is why that happens, because generally people dive right ontop of who ever they want to knife, so it makes sense.

If support pray and spray is your gripe then somethings wrong.

Having to be prone for any type of accuracy buys you time. The best way to throw off a insta proner imo is a strafeing hop, or right over them. Now the knifing them thing...thats Bf2..Ive had every class rape me after me knifing them, mutiple times.
