OK. I haven't seen anyone mention the REAL reason why they knocked that sat out of orbit. It was an old Fengyun FY-1C weather satellite built by China. Therefore they have the right to target it. Doing this will also reduce the chances of the next Space Shuttle flight hitting space debris. Why couldn't they just send it to geo-stationary orbit? It would collide with all the other sattelites we have up there (OMG! You knocked FOX off air!). Other than that I agree with the OP.

Well, I'm just throwing country names out there, because I'm bored... but heres my guess for who'll play in World War 3.

Main Players: United States of America, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Eithiopia.

NATO Allies: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lituania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.

Allies of Circumstance: Jordan, Egypt.

I estimate that Turkey, Greece and France will pull out of NATO due to their high Muslim Populations, Central-Left ideologies, and objections against the War in Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Sunni dominated Jordan and Egypt will probably come under attack by the Shi'ite Muslims, thus putting them in a position to fight alongside the Ally Coalition.

Shi'ite Islamic Bloc: Iran, Syria, Iraqi Shi'ites, Afghanistan Shi'ites, Pakistan Shi'ites, Sudan Shi'ites, Somalian Shi'ites, Djibouti Shi'ites.

I estimate that the majority of the Muslim countries will stay out of this war. Sunni Muslims will be victimized as a result of Shi'ite governments taking a very aggressive policy. Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt and Lebanon are most likely to be enthralled in the war unwillingly against the Shi'ite Coalition.

I estimate that North Korea will play a major role in making this a world war, by taking advantage of the world situation, and declaring war on South Korea. Of course, even with Nuclear Weapons, North Korea will be squelched. Only China's support could ever allow them to succeed, and even China is tired of the attention whoring going on in this impoverished Stalinist country.

Unaffiliated, but caught in the Middle: China, Russia, Cyprus, Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Sunnis of all countries.

Turkey and Cyprus may come to ends once and for all due to the hostile world affairs. This may of course be a reason as to why Turkey and Greece will leave NATO. China and Russia will most likely take advantage of the economic benefits of playing both sides.

Aftermath: The Ally Bloc wins without a doubt, but both sides lose in the end due to the economic scale of power shifting greatly towards the countries who stayed in the middle and profiteered. India, China, Brazil, South Africa, France, Russia and even the Phillipines would all have much to gain from a third world war.

The real fear of the Chinese taking out the sat. is knowing they have that type of technology. Since the border line playing ball with the US agenda this makes us/USA nervous. It stuff really did pop off first thing the Chinese would do eliminate the eyes in the sky, which would seriously cripple the US.

Basic knowledge that when a country that isnt part of the team does this its frowned apon. Its comes down to if your willing to join the team of world economic and depolmatic powers you get the incentives of being trusted and maybe not possesing but having access to this tech. Sure it makes the US look bad being the one getting "angry" about it...but think of it as a team (USA/Europe/Canada/Aus./Japan etc..) the strongest one is gonna have to show the force and prtect its self and its mates.

The Chinese do have a large ever incresing army, it is the closest thing to an organized army not in the "team" that could inflict damage. They do however lack a large Navy and especially air craft carriers if Im right.

The MEC army, or the equal to it in reality is far to devided in beliefs and agenda to pose a serious threat. Its a bunch of countries with centuries of conflict that has made them unable to perform as a serious unit. Add in the fact of lack of infastructure, mass 3rd world conditions, corruption, etc.. and it makes a serious MEC laughable. At best Iran might move into Iraq and prop up a ****e politician to do there bidding, but internal devides of past and the resurgence of present acts will devide the country. The Middle East will never rise till it figures out a seperation of church and state, and trust of the west, and a movement against corrupt is the only answer for a chance to rise from constant bickering to a fully functioning world power.

And yes the US is at fault in the rising unstableness in the Middle East. Im
figuring after 9/11 the goverment of the US relized the rise in jihad/anti-west etc. in the Middle East and figured it be best to have a foot hold on a powerful country in the region. What best to do then take out a prior enemy of the US and the world and establish a base of operations there...an area to spread the agenda and keep a watch on groups willing to lash out at the west. What should have been a walk in the park was quickly relized a mistake when the liberators of a cruel regime were quickly labled "western infidels trying to occupy there land and spread there western values".
So what once could have become a chance for Iraq to join the "team" was quickly shattered by fears of western values. Im not gonna say whos right or whos wrong, but I understand what the US was aiming for..did they do it right, no...was it a plausable idea..heck no. There is just to much resentment for the western ideas in that region in this day and age to think it possible. The only people able to help the Middle East and transform it from defunct region is the Middle East...but alas, there is far to much inter squabbling to hope for that to happen anytime soon.

Plus economicaly no real world war is plausable..all there is or would be are a few out of the team countries that act the fool from time to time. China may linger on the outside of the team but in reality it knows everyone props it each other up, so yeah even if it did attack the US the economic problems it would face with a majority of the world would be insane...
there is far to much money in world politics to risk any type of super power war.

syira is not shiite. dude majority of them are sunni there president is a minoirty of haliwite, Lebanon has said after the 2006 war theyll be the last to sign an agrement with israel, so im sure theyll get involved in the war since its about 50% christians 50% muslims.
