It really irritates me, but I dont think any of these hoppers are owning the game simply because of their hopping. They can get me once, but I just come back and kill 'em dead, hopping or not. And the farther away you are positioned when you light them up, the less advantage they gain by hopping.

Players are usually jump->prone while firing, then stand up and do it again. Though it is much slower than the previous moves before the 1.4 patch, it is just a slower dolphin dive.

Yes, but you cannot fire while doing it, after that 1st jump, making it completely useless. If they do make it up, then GOD help you, you cannot aim.

Some players fresh from Counterstrike are chronic bunnyhoppers in BF2.

Can I ask you were you got that assumption(sp?) from?

I'm a "chronic bunnyhopper" because I know the majority of BF2 players get worked up about it and instead of learning how to aim an easy target, they hit J and begin to type in all caps.

I like to bunny hop, it's funny when you reload turn around and pop a cap in the guys face, and he just got you down to half hp.

I jump around corners all the time, it's a tactical maneuver. They don't expect you to be 3 feet in the air. But excessively jumping should not be used as a primary tactic. I'll do it once or twice to evade fire if I'm low on health, or a sniper is shooting at me, but I'll get behind cover and reorient myself to the fight.

Yeah, it can be rather weird though. I knifed someone as soon as they started to jump, and they flew about ten feet in the air.

bunny hopping=the elaborate mating dance(well thats what it looks like) that often occurs when 2 players try to knife each other

bunny hopping was invented back in the old west when some drunk guy shot at his friends feet and said "dance"

Last night (or was it the night before) I ended up getting kicked from a clan server... I shot a bunnyhopper down (who was a member of the clan running the server.) The conversation pretty much went as follows-

me: <I shoot him dead while he jumps around like an idiot>
me: "hoppy hop hop!"

bunnyhopper:"wah wah cry some more"

me: "no... i'm laughing because you bunny hopped but it did you no good"

anotherclanmember: "what's he crying about?"

bunnyhopper: "he's crying because i bunnyhopped"

me: "no, i'm laughing because you bunnyhopped and i shot you down anyway."

bunnyhopper: "i had a shotgun ok?"

me: "oh now look who's crying!"

me:<kicked>

And, yes, it was very very worth it. :laugh:
