i dont care what i get killed by. BUT, if you go into an IO server with the SRAW as your primary weapon because you suck THAT bad at this game. i really feel sry for you.

The pistol is there for a reason, I swear it is the most underused weapon, particulary by the type of peeps we are talking about here.

It takes 8 manually fired hits to kill an armoured soldier with a pistol, in a minimum time of 1.46 seconds (in practice probably a little longer unless you really hammer the button) .....now while the P90/PP19/MP5/T85 also takes 8 hits to kill armoured soldiers, at least they are automatic and do it in 533ms (fraction over half a second).

Well, since the splash damage is pretty much non existant, only a direct hit will kill someone.

Funny thing is, if a rocket hits you, you're *dead*. No revive. Although, exploding yourself with 5 C4 charges while sitting on them doesn't kill you completly. Just a random observation.

I think it is an absolutely valid tactic. If you come across someone at medium range, and they start shooting at you with their assault rifle, what exactly are you supposed to do? Pull the DAO out? :laugh:

Or do you just want AT soldiers to not defend themselves when they are being fired on?

I normally run around with the rocket in open spaces, which I will use on vehicles and infantry. Around buildings I use the DAO, that's where it comes into it's own...

Its fine, whats annoying is throwing 5 c4 packs on your jeep and ramming a tank or APC. Anyway, good luck with AT'ing people.

It's only cheap when it's used against me.
I'm allowed to use it against infantry though.

I believe that if you get killed by an AT missile, a projectile that you could dodge and requires a direct hit to kill you, you deserved it. The argument that it was shot at blank range ("It requires no skill!") doesn't have much validity since all of you will no doubt tolerate getting killed by shotguns in such manner.

Do it all the time, even when I could just pistol the guy. If I run out of rockets, I pick up an enemy`s kit and move on.
I love using cheap tactics- jihad jeeps, jihad helis, close range C4 etc+ it makes most of the people angry so they tend to f*** up more.

when i first started playing, i picked up the AT kit and was like "ooh a rocket launcher" as ive come from UT.....but it isnt as powerful a weapon as i had thought, and used it primarily for vehicles.....and every now and then that pesky sniper.........the AT class has pretty crappy weapons for long/medium range targets

The way I see it if you don't use the most "economical" tactic you're letting the team down. The only thing wrong with using an AT up close is that the DAO is more effective.

I have saved my *** a few times with a holy-crap AT shot at very close range.


And as for the "cheapness" of it...

When I served in the CF, and first learned to use the 84mm Carl Gustav rocket (recoiless rifle to be more accurate), my Sgt told me this:

"This weapon was designed to destroy a tank. But in the right hands, it will destroy anything that rolls, flys, walks, hops, or just happens to be in the right place, at the wrong time."

The PPCLI used it to bunker bust in Afghanistan quite effectively, and I don't see a problem with nuking some poor sap with it in a video game.

I use it when I need to. Normally I'll try and jostle troops into CQC to make full use of my primary infantry weapon (usually P90 but I still love the DAO) but in mid/long range I'm not about to go toe to toe with a G36E wielding medic with a P90. It's a perfectly valid tactic IMO, at least gives those AT guys busting a bollock for the team a bit of reward in the form of kills.
