I think the sniper had all the right to shoot him, I'd of shot him too. As most people said, the jets are a valuable resource, and that couldn't be any more true.

        Re: Wow..

There's your points/rank/badge system hard at work.

What possible motivation, other then this insipid reward system would one have to sit in a vehicle and not do anything?

None, it's unprecedented in first person shooters. It's actually more desirable to do nothing then to actually play the game?

All because of some graphic that is now not grayed out on some webpage with your name on it?

Once again we see players who treat BF2 like an offline game. Some thing to "beat". "I got all the badges and rank so I'm done with BF2" . They treat everyone else as if they were AI.

This is entirely counter intuitive to the multi-player experience. Multi-player games used to have their value because the were re-playable indefinitely. Having human opponents made it different and challenging for much longer periods of time. Usually people only stopped playing an online shooter till something better came along.

Now there's an entire segment of players who play for the sole purpose of gaining all the unlocks, badges and rank, then quiting.

It's actually quite ingenious. Take statistics that already exist in the game, track them. Assign random values to accumulated amounts of these stats, and assign a prize for them. Call it a "new way to play" and you suck in a whole new demographic of player that normally wouldn't be happy with just the competitive nature of multi-player gaming. They play, they "beat" they buy a new game. All the while doing the most complaining about the game itself.

Many look at is as a nice addition to the multi player experience. Then there's the shallowest of them all. The ones that feel it's the only reason to play. These are probably younger soccer-mom generation fruit-roll up eating, bike helmet wearing uterus droppings. Those who haven't made a move in their entire life with out being told how wonderful they are , and have been rewarded with some sort of praise for doing the most basic things in life. Everyone gets a trophy at the end of the year because everyone is good. That generation are the ones that sit in Jets all day long.

Funny thing is, even though they circumvent the true meaning of the badge they are going for, they still boast about it. I find it odd that the first thing a lot of these players ask is "What's the easiest way to get "x" badge".

Well if you do it the easiest way, what's the point in getting the damn thing anyway?

Yep I've been there, only one thing worse than a flying commander. A commander thats sits in a plane/chopper not taking off.

          Sniper did good.
Would have been nice if an admin followed up with a ban.

No, the sniper was well within his rights (?) to TK the pilot if all he was going to do was sit in it the entire game, probably just to get his time in aircraft up.

I was commander and he kept trying to mutiny me (he was obviously needing the time and the kills, Arty while in plane counts as kills in plane) The FF was off so we couldnt do anything about it. Anyway one of my mates joined and told him to go USMC and where this guy was.....he got 4 kills before the guy twigged:)
He could not get the IAR kills on Dalian...in a J-10? Was he retarded?
