    Re: Interview With A Cheater

Someone made a worthwhile post in favor of certain forms of cheating in the comments section, specifically dealing with hardware, latencies and overall equal-footing. I think it deserves to be explored further, but the simple answer would be for game developers to design their software more carefully so that most systems would run it just as well as any other.

His whole argument is "waaah, everyone else does it, it's not my fault" and "the game developers should have stopped me from doing this". Personally, I'd have loved to see him in Saddam-era Iraq, let's see how he likes a nanny state/dictatorship. Or he could try China...

I have only hacked in one game, Call of Duty. It was fun as hell. All the people whining, crying. You can`t imagine how hilarious it is.
And people screaming "omg get a life and a gf", thinking that I will stop or get hurt by those insults, lol.
Why don`t people realise that calling a hacker a loser etc. you do exactly what he wants, get raged and annoyed- he`s gonna keep going.
Thats why I never start screaming and kickin when I see a hacker, even when he`s on the 1st place.

I hardly believe there are hackers out there who actually hack to get the best place in the server. Seems kinda pointless. They do it for fun, majority of em.

Umm... He's cheating in a console game? Someone's got to be bored to death to do that. But yea, that's a very bad example of a cheater and what is inside of a cheaters mind I think. I can't honestly believe a 24 year old would think like that, but that's console.

If you take high-skill players from CS or even BF2, they all have their own tricks what you may consider as cheating. In CS colored models and other gaming aids are must, and they're very different from hacks, because they still need skill to work.
I would say the vast majority play BF2 for enjoyment (working towards ranks and badges is included in this) and have paid money to do so. People that hack have an unfair advantage and are therefore effecting peoples gameplay and enjoyment.
If someone would cheat to get some badge or rank he must be the biggest loser of all time. Casual players don't need to fear cheaters, just ignore them. Even though I find playing with cheater somehow exotic and interesting sometimes.

But the truth is, line between cheating and not cheating is thin and unclear. Just go and read some gaming league rules for example. If you know something about a game those will make you laugh, even more than ROE does. For example, it's often illegal to play Source games with old DX7 card, because you have to use all DX9 things not to gain unfair advantage.

So long as we as a community place players of great skill on a pedestal, there will always be those who seek to earn this prestige through maliced means.

So long as gamers remain apathetic to cheating; going so far as to even help them to make up excuses, these cheaters will always have a means to vindicate their scummy ways.

Only a community can protect itself from undesirables.

The BFROE are a good example of a community run program with the sole intent of forcing EA to pay attention to even the most vague of cheaters.

So as a community... If we all remain ever watchful and vigilant in our search, submitting punkbuster screenshots (As Server Admins), or submitting video proof of blatantly obvious cheating (Such as padding, glitching or eratic back and forth aiming.) we can help ruin the fun of cheaters by helping EA get the proof it needs to reset the stats of people who are only cheating for gain.

If you run into a Rank: Private who is blatantly using a cheating program (Who is just doing it to ruin other people's fun), I would dare say to even go so far as to condone the use of a.ssy tactics like getting a friend to play on the other team, and starting a kill/revive spree on the culprit. If they're glitching, glitch in after them (Join their squad and spawn on them) and teamkill them. If they're stats padding, keep killing the people helping them until they've teamkilled you three times. (3 punishes = boot.)

If they're an admin and they ban you? Take a screenshot and report them to the BFROE. It's all a community effort afterall.

So what if you lose a round doing this? It's fun (Satisfying; Gratifying; Amusing since THEY insult YOU, and not vice versa.), and you weren't going to beat the cheater to the gold medal anyways.

              Anyhow, these are just ideas...

As it stands, I will forever mock, insult, humiliate, and denounce any and all cheating of any form, and I will do it in maliced ways that 'will' hurt their self esteem. I will also encourage others to do the same.

If they ruin our fun, why shouldn't we ruin theirs? =)

Reminds me of times on BF2 when people are hacking and every time they killed someone they'd go "ZOMG! PWNIWGENINGINAE", I come on the server and actually knifed the guy hacking like 4 times, via teh bunny hopz (only because he was hacking), and he started bitching about ME exploiting. I laughed in his face.

Found a hacker in our local GameArena servers in Australia just the other day. I've known about it for a while (he's been doing it a few months), but when he started going commander and laying down non-stop arty on people, it emptied servers, and ruined the game whenever he entered a server.

I started a thread about it on a local BF2 forum about it...

                    http://www.ausbattlefields.com/index...iewtopic&t=699

He's going to get banned from GameArena servers, and the videos we have of the guy are pretty breath-taking. I mean, this guy truly is a cocksucker.

His BF2 name is gemmy1984, his name is Steven Gemmell, and he lives in South Australia. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do about the guy. Should I contact his parents (he's a 20-something guy living with his parents.), and let them know what junior is doing with their internet connection?

What do you do, when you know the guy does it, he tells you, and then tells you to go **** yourself?

Do you go to the trouble of making their life miserable? Ideas?

I didn't read the interview. I wont waste my time on a Cheat. They're all LOSERS. Pure and simple. They are losers now and probably into adulthood, should they ever get that far. Any kind of justification on their part is BULL. If they cheat at a game they will probably cheat their own granny out of here pension check. They should all be ***** slapped. Punks. The lot of'um.

You should read it: it's an excellent lesson on how to conduct a biased interview and making sweeping generalizations.

"I can play each and every game I cheat at very well. I will own anyone on the battlefield even without a mod, Believe It ! -"

I hear that ALL THE TIME from cheaters, hackers, exploiters, etc. and it makes me chuckle a little each time.

Dude, you say they do it for fun, but who ends up sharing in that fun? No one else... at least when not cheating you have the chance to interact and have fun with others... holy crap is that concept just too novel for cheaters?

And I love it, you say you cheated but refer to the unassailable 'they' instead of being honest for once and just referring to yourself. I call that being a big whimp and not owning up to what you are.

I'm sorry but as long as more cheaters crawl out of the woodwork (like rats) on this thread the more I will hammer:

                                Cheaters are losers.

Can there be some sort of informal list we can put together? I think the more exposed cheaters become, the harder it will be for them to pull their crap.
