    Help with the support weapons??

I'm playing a bit of support for a change, get some hours and experience in, and I can't seem to hit the broadside of a barn with the two weapons I have to choose from (haven't unlocked the third support rifle yet).

Any words of wisdom from the more experienced heavy operators out there? Things that worked for you, that you're willing to share (I am going prone whenever possible which helps, but firing burst seems to make no differance ... )

    Lay down!!!
Fire 3 round bursts (3rd unlock can switch to this)
Start at the bottom/mid section of victim and the rounds will travel up the body.
PKM is an extremely good weapon once you get used to it.
    HTH :)

    Edit:
Oh, and don't forget to re-adjust your aim after every burst, otherwise rounds will just spray everywhere except where you want

Whenever I see someone from distance I always do single shot to improve accuracy. You should only do full auto when someone is right in your face. This may seem fairly obvious, but always try to aim for the head. Like any other gun, keep practicing with it. I remember the first time I tried the PKM, I was pretty damn bad. Also, I hope you put up your sights when you're shooting someone. :)

      Hope this helps!

Go prone and use the ironsight, and fire in bursts unless you're very close to them.

You can almost use the RPK-74 as an SMG in close quarters :)

If you have ANY support gun except the MG36... Do this.

            Go prone
Aim (only iron sights if they are VERY far... ie you need sights for the zoom)
fire the gun like it is a single-shot gun.. even though it is full auto. You can click as fast or slow as you want, but clicking fast > full auto with the support guns. You retain accuracy while still having a decent firerate.

The thing I say about the iron sights, the PKM is just as accurate without ironsights as it is with.. There is no need to use them because all it does is makes you see less. Try to get used to shooting without iron sights.

Here's something that might help that I do for support guns.. Just put a tiny 1-2 pixel dot on the dead center of your screen (as small as possible) with a highlighter or washable marker. Helps for AT too. Some may think it's cheap, but whatever. Nothing is wrong with it. Basically it gives you a feeling of having a dot scope or something but in the center of your screen so you can still shoot accurately without having all that **** blocking your view, and the iron sights aren't accurate anyways.

*that dot only helps with support guns and AT rockets, and maybe jets with circle type reticules (J-10/SU-30)*

Aim with the PKM and you should be good you'll get some easy kills.

How good is the MG36 compared to the PKM? I've tried it a few times and the bullets go wild and don't do any damage at all even when they hit, has anyone had any success stories with it?

                    PKM > MG36 for long range 1v1

                    PKM > MG36 for short range 1v1

MG36 > PKM for "spraying" 1v2+ (because of ROF)

                    .. etc.

That's how I look at it.

PKM is best for sitting back medium-long range and "sniping", but can also be good for extreme close distance prone wars or whatever you want to call them, because of its power.

MG36 has a faster fire rate... but weaker, and not as accurate.. so based off that, imo...

                    PKM > MG36

PKM for some reason gets almost unusable if you try to go full auto with it. You need to click for each shot at medium-long range, and do 2-3 shot bursts for close range, and might as well go full auto at point blank.

gun... what are you doing, just throw the grenades

but, advice for the pkm, prone, single fire, gun is so accurate its ridiculous

m249 SAW use bursts, dont zoom, like 5 round bursts, for upclose, prone and just go crazy, your bound to hit something

for the regular MEC support gun, no advice

for the 3rd unlock keep it on 3 fire and you'll be fine

Engage in mid to close range, find an area you want to cover, and you actually can go nuts and all out full auto, except for the PKM.

Look up for MrBenis´ support weapon guide, its excellent and covers everything you need to know.

You wouldn't happen to be the same nemesis we are getting for the airwing in bf2c would you?

First off... I love support. I've been playing the hell out of medic lately, but nothing IMHO compares to support... it's the bad-*** role.

To get my expert support badge I stuck with the MG36 (plus, I think at the time they hadn't completely tweaked PKM performance)... anyway, I usually do the following three things when in support (aside from having resupply diarrhea at every flag)-

                              - go prone. You accomplish nothing while standing. Crouching is so-so.
                              - do a manual burst instead of the three-shot setting. You get more control, and you can fire faster/more. In fact, I find the three-shot burst setting almost unplayable in a firefight.
                              - aim first at center mass, then move up to the head. If you haven't killed them by the time you are aiming at their head, you will kill them.

I have gone and used the PKM for the extra firepower... but only in environments where I think I'll be shooting at jeeps or helos... aka, MG36 only on infantry-only maps.

The last piece of advice I'd give to being a better player (support, medic, whatever) is to stick to one weapon and master it... if you keep cycling through different weapons or roles prior to mastering them, you will retard your development.
