I'm not gonna go out and buy a joystick just to fly a jet, but dam it's hard to fly jets with mouse and keyboard.

Same here. In a helo I set my joystick throttle to about 30% for hovering. I fly with the stick and keep left hand on "w" and "s" to adjust throttle.

Heres a piece of advice. Dont set throttle on joystick. If you release your THROTTLE keys on KB, it will keep your chopper throttle at hover.

Thats the point. It works for all. You dont have to set your throttle to 30%, if you can simply release your WASD throttle and have the same result, if not evem better.

I used 35% marker on my throttle, when I discovered that I did it wrong, and I havent gone back.

I have to agree, Sloi's videos are awesome. I wish I could fly the chopper partially as good as him.

As far as jets, you NEED a joystick. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I love coming across mousers in the air. If a mouser gets on my tail, it doesn't take me long to do a SPLIT-S or inverted SPLIT-S to lose him, then I'm quickly on his tail and he can't shake me, cuz he can't do the flips I can do, and I can easily match any of his movements with the joystick.

And besides, if I have to eject, my joystick is right above my keyboard, so I just move my hand down maybe 8 inches and I'm right back in infantry action. No big deal.

I'm so used to flying both with my joystick, it feels better, more control as well.

Has any of you ever tried dogfigting a newbie keyboard, gamepad pilot?

LOL... heres how it looks.

Im in F35B, hes in MiG-29, J10, any jet that has a better turn rate.

So I lock on to him, and wait for him to drop flares and change a turn so I can have a shot at him. Instead, he drops his flares and starts making circles. And unless you have a wingman that comes from an alternate angle with a missile shot opportunity, youll never going to get him. Ive had a couple of occasions where the sucker kept making circles, even though I disengaged! I came around from above, and saw him fly around his airfield.

Man, that was pissing me off LOL.

But yeah, they werent really doing any good when they had to engage me, and while Ive met a few really, really talented mouse pilots, joystick pilots have always been a class higher.

Key board for me don't know how it isn't easy after all it is only flying guess after the nade spam of karkand you just forget things.
