    So what about the ROE???

I have a question, and it might be noobish but anyway. I'm new to this whole online gaming thing. I love playing BF2, and am starting to develop some skill at it. When I first started playing several players refered to the BF2ROE. I went out, looked at it and it makes perfect sense to me. It would seem to help keep game play fun and more or less fair.

It was my understanding that ranked servers agreed to run their games in accordance with the ROE. Here lately though it seems like ranked servers do what ever they want. I have played on ranked servers that advertise spawn camping, base raping and jihad are acceptable. These servers seems to be nothing but a stat pad arena for the clans that run them, and they ridicule anyone who complains.

So whats the story here, just avoid these servers, report them to EA, or what? Personally I think a clan doing nothing but base raping your one start control point over and over and over, running up like 300 to 0 scores is just crap to me, and I dont see how its fun for anyone.

I dont think that is technically against the ROE, so I do not think that reporting would do anything. Just move to a different server?

Everything you mentioned is an server OPTION under the BF2 ROE, reread the ROE for a better understanding

tip: Base rape them back, or find a server that does not allow base rape

EA makes money from ranked servers.

        = No change.

That's why P+K servers are still running.

Yeah, EA gets money from ranked, reporting wouldn't do a thing.

You will find that if you look hard enough, there is always a reason to like or not like something. Pick your battles and wars with a bigger picture in mind.

I play for fun. I won't go out of my way to police anyone else unless what I see is just beyond unacceptable. Spend time making friends and finding places you like. You'll be happier.

Thats actually the only reason I'm posting this. My couple favorite servers have become almost unplayable. I yesterday I went 7 spawns in a row without taking the first step. Claymores, C4 you name it at every spawn point at our one base, almost from the beginning of the game. The majority of the bad guys are the home clan, and if you try and team switch, or try and get a shuffle inbetween rounds... forget it.

Oh well, I guess I'm off try and find servers that arent quite so one sided.

As mentioned, ROE is optional for some rules. Others are hard & fast (like running a k&p server). Sorry your favorite server has gone sour. Things like this are cyclical and may go away. This is very common though on Karkand and not always as bad on other maps.

If you are a strict Karkand Only player, it might be a calling from above to switch up your game some.

Not necessarily. All EA has to do is turn off their ranked status to unranked. EA still makes money but they no longer get stats.

Ranked servers pay for being ranked. Anyone can setup a server, but if you want it to be ranked, pay for EA. I don't actually know what kind of fee is it, monthly, annual or just one time when you set it up. But anyways, taking away their ranked status is like killing someone who's paying you = makes no sense in business world. And they would probably have to give a refund too.

But anyways, BF2 world is big and bad, for one lonely player it might be hard to survive sometimes. But I don't understand how a server can be a statpadding arena for clans? They have no more power there than you have. Of course they can kick, but you can spawncamp as well. It's up to you what you do and they do for you.

You have to pay for unranked servers as well. Skunk_2142, a notorious abusive admin, was reported several times to BFROE and what EA did is instead of taking away his server they just unranked it. They still made money.

"In our continued efforts to combat cheating in World of Warcraft, more than 105,000 accounts were closed and over 12 million gold was removed from the game economies in Europe, Korea, and the US in the month of November. The closed accounts were associated with activities that violate World of Warcraft's Terms of Use, such as using third-party programs that allow cheating, and farming gold and items. These types of activities can severely impact the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

We will continue to aggressively monitor all World of Warcraft realms in order to protect the service and its players from the harmful effects of cheating. Please note that selling World of Warcraft content, such as gold, items, and characters, can result in a permanent ban of the involved accounts from World of Warcraft.

Many account closures come as the direct result of tips reported to our GMs in game or emailed to our Hacks Team by legitimate World of Warcraft players. If you suspect that a World of Warcraft player is using an illegal third-party program to farm gold or items, or is otherwise violating our Terms of Use, please report the suspected infraction via one of the means listed above. All reports will be investigated, and those that prove false will not result in corrective action. "

Whatever, ROE could kill BF2, not help it.

Counterstrike, and Team Fortress Classic lasted as long as they did because they allowed pretty much anything to happen from server to server. Nobody went to forums to cry about it - they either dealt with the differences, or found another server to play on. Mods such as AdminOP, AMX_mod, etc had many plugins that could enhance the game, and extended it's life long beyond what anyone expected.

So what if someone wants to have a low-gravity BF2 server? OMG it's against some horse**** ROE!!! Maybe some of us are in a wacky mood and would like a break from the norm and bounce around like we're on the moon? This doesn't affect EA in any way. They have their sales, and any wacky rules or mods that a server wants to implement wouldn't only help for new sales.
