Just so everyone knows, rockin' BF2 videos of you in a jet raping Wake Island with some horrendous shouty bollocks (linkin park, rammstein, take your pick) playing over it - for 20 minutes - suck ***. They suck so much ***, you'll need to use a subway for a straw.

            Don't. Do. It.

              That is a good one.
Also maybe "Click Click Boom" by i think POD (if it isn't POD then it is Rage Against The Machine)

"Bombtrack" by Rage Against The Machine might also be one to consider...

good luck, and I'd like to see the video when it is done. :)

I just use songs that I listen to when I am playing game. Usually Infected Mushrooms, Paul Okenfold, Concord Dorn or Salmonella Dub.

                  These are my vids: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=aLi3nZw00t

I am from NZ as well, good luck with the vid.

They never work. I remember Wargimp posted an otherwise great video of Black Hawk action, and it had some heavy rock as background music and it totally killed the video.

Best type of music doesnt even need to be something you like. You think people make symphonical classical music into moves because they like it? No, they do it because it fits. This is your goal, to find a piece that fits with your movie. I know a few guys who actually compose their own stuff, and are pretty damn talented, but the world is filled with great pieces of music that fit in almost every situation.

Amon Tobin (I hope I got the name right) has some great pieces to fit mission briefings for example. Matrix soundtrack, all 3 of them, have what I would describe as the widest array of musical cannon power, from A to Z. In fact you should check out all 3 Matrix movie soundtracks first, and then if you like some of them try to use that direction.

If you want something epic, Hanz Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Willians are perfect, in fact look up "The Media Ventures", as they have a whole group of people doing similar music. Zimmer did music for Black Hawk down for example, and Willians (not to be confised with John Williams) did Metal Gear Solid series music, which are one of my personal favourites. If you want something fast, you should try John Powell.

Do not mix musical genres, unless the difference isnt that apparent. For example its not wise to mix rock, rap and all that crap together, as music will play too important role as a distraction. Try not to use word-heavy music. Rely on the total immersion effect. The best background music is the one you will not remember, but you will remember the emotions the music and the movie sparked. As such, even the sh!ttiest music you hear on radio, can be perfect for a certain moment.

Theres a whole load of popular music availaible. The Prodigy, older songs, are overused, but that doesnt matter if they fit into the movie. Then again those songs are mostly for pwnage videos, which yours probably wont be like.

Check out "The Final Stand" video by Snoken, who chose popular music for background of his video. Theres also the famous "Duck and Cover" video, also an ownage video which uses popular music as its background.

Heres my musical portfolio. Pop music, and the kind you hear in the radio or your friends listen to makes a total of about 1% here. The rest is music/games soundtracks.
