    Re: weapons question

Not in the military so I don't get a chance to play with the full auto stuff but I own a semi-auto M4 carbine now. Nice piece.

On top is my old 20" AR-15.

I also owned a Chinese SKS (nothing close to an AK other than caliber) and a Romanian semi-auto AK-47. I would hesitate to compare a Glock to an AK from any perspective. If a glock is like a new BMW than an AK is like a 1950's Farmall tractor.

The Chinese SKS, an older soviet designed semi-auto was far superior to the cheap metal stamped piece of junk AK.

I used the G3 while serving in the german Bundeswehr, nowadays they use the G36 I think.

          Currently own:

          U.S. - default Spec Ops
          global teams - Assault unlock
MEC - default Medic kit(5.45mm though, not 5.56mm, otherwise identical to ingame)
          Chinese - default Medic kit
FAL Para - not in game
          .
          .
          .
All semi-auto of course, though legal full auto versions are available, they are outrageously expensive...about 10x as much.

It's a fun hobby, but it's expensive and never ends.

I've fired the L85A1 ( now the A2 ) loads of times A1 was unreliable and very prone to stoppages but the A2 is first class. We fired over 80000 rounds on our last range exercise with no stoppages, you can engage and hit accurately targets upto 300 mtrs away with an iron sight and upto 600mtrs with the L86A2 with the X4 susat sight, this version has a bibod but still with a 30 round Mag. Sorry to sound biased, i'd like to have a go with an M4 though.

Wow! does the G3 kick *** in real life as much as it does in BF2?

                        Re: weapons question

The G3 does kick like a mule, but only on full auto. On semi it should shoot much easier than it does.

The thing about BF2 is that the weapons are fairly well done (except you can land a hit way outside the confines of the barrel) but the ammount of running your guy does and the ammount of stability eh has when shooting means he's fitter than most Biatholon althetes.

Now what have I shot? Well the list is nice and long.

                        I personally own a 1911 A1c in .45ACP, a Glock 26 in 9x19mm, a Colt .22, a .36 revolver a .44 revolver, a 12 guage Rem 870, a pair of SAA .357Magnums and a lever action in .357.

None of those are in BF2 you say? Yeah I know. Those are just what I personally own.

Now I shoot a 12guage pump almost every weekend and I must say By GOD the guy in BF2 reloads fast, but he works that pump as if he was a geriatric. (Besides, isn't the 11-87 a semi auto shotgun IRL?)

2 shells in the air and the slide forwards ready to knock over the next plate. And this is with a pump.

I shoot 5.56mm (.223) rifles pretty often as well

The South African made Vektor LM6, a copy of the shorty Galil.

Bah, I have pics of my with the MP5, the AK-47 and a G3, but the stupid firewall at work won't let me access them. Buggerit.

Anyway, I shoot the Mp5 about half as often as I shoot the LM6 and I shoot the AK a little more often, but not much more.

I've then managed to attend a family day at the local Recce's camp. That was fantastic.

I got my hands on some seriously cool stuff. An M16/M203, but the 40mm were inert training grenades.

I shot a couple hundred rounds (exactly 200) through an M240 and an RPK-74. The RPK is almost as sweet IRL as it is in the game.

I've shot a couple of scoped rifles including the SVD, and the M40 and an AWP.

I'd love to do that again, those are the only rounds I've put through serious military hardware.

I've gotten to play with some other seriously cool military toys as well, like the Bizon from BF2

And then some non BF2 stuff like the NTW-20mm sniper rifle that fires the 20x110mm round

And the PAWS 20x45mm assault cannon

so yeah, I've played with some toys, shot some others.

Ps I also forgot to mention I'm trained in the use of the Starstreak laser guided SAM.

AK-47 (rugged, which I liked, larger caliber bullet, would stop an enemy faster)
M-16 (lighter, less recoil, good sites, more accurate)
if the m-16 was more accurate then you didnt know how to shoot the ak.

Which version have you been shooting? The M16A2 issued to most U.S. Army troops hits for me at 300m no problem. The AK my old squad leader had was iffy over 75m. Unless you've properly zeroed your weapon and fired at various known ranges, STFU.

                                I have shot both

The 5.56 NATO round has a flatter trajectory, & the M16's diopter sight is nice
