Hey people, I notice people are talking about mods a lot. i was wondering which one i should download. I want too download a mod that has people playing it .So if i feel like playing it i can find a server with a good number of people playing it.

project reallity mod , OPK , poe2 are proaberly the most populated at the moment -

with all the POE2 fanboys on this forum, theres actually not too many populated POE2 servers....
that being said, Project Reality www.realitymod.com is getting more populated than ever :)
I belive also Operation Peacekeeper has a couple people playing on weekends...
other than that.... mod scene is prety queit in bf2 unfortunately...Comment

project reality has been the most consistent since its 0.1 release and has more current players than all the other mods put together.
sadly it's only a fraction of the BF2 playerbase obsessed as they are with infantry only Karkand and stats, supporting a money grabbing company that FUBAR'd the game while cold shouldering the mod makers working for free improving things
it's not just sad, it's a disgrace - vanilla is unplayable once you play project reality, vanilla is unbearably ugly after you play POE - shame on the stats addictsComment

PRMM has never had more players online than PoE. I have never seen it or even close. Last time I checked to try and play PRMM a couple days ago there was only about 20 some people online playing (and no my filters where set correctly).
PRMM is an ok mod but I dislike more things than I like. For me it is just not any fun. POE is where it is at until USI can do another release and get some players back.Comment

right now at 1715 GMT it is off peak for the US and Europe, so these numbers are probably three times lower than what they are in the evenings/night

yea Casper you havent been playing or looking at the servers much lately have you??
For the past 2 weeks, PR has been dominating POE2....
its prolly because of PR's new release..... but guess what, after EA ****ed POE2 over with their patch.... POE2 has NEVER recovered all those players that they had when it initially came out.
As of right now, PR has 180 people playing online, and POE2 only has 60. Its been this way for a couple weeks...
I agree both mods are great and appeal to different audiences, all Im saying is right now, PR has the lead in steady population.Comment

I don't know where you guys get your info but according to game monitor PRMM does not have as many active players as POE. When I load a game and look for a server I only see a couple mildly populated PRMM servers while I see several fully populated POE servers. I just do not think the facts stand up to what you guys are saying.
I do understand that a lot of people enjoy PRMM but it is not as popular was POE and after playing PRMM I would think that they would not even have the same fans as they are such drasticly different mods.Comment

according to game-monitor.com right now PRM has twice as many making it MORE popular than POE2
For people who haven't tried either yet
POE2 = visually beautiful, arcade, vanilla BF2-style gameplay, singleplayer vehicles, wide open maps
PRM = tactical shooter, realism, squad teamwork, armour with seperate drivers, gunners and commanders, urban and focused maps
I prefer the latter in leaps and bounds, if I wanted team deathmatch I would play counterstrikeComment

How about calling it "A little closer to reality than the game it is almost still completely the same as" mod.
The average BF2 player isn't very much into the FPS scene, there just kids who like to play games. Thats why the more mature members of the community have either moved on, or play private servers.Comment

casper im using game-monitor.com to get my numbers.... for about 2 weeks ive been monitoring the population levels out of curiousity.... and POE2 has NOT ONCE got to a level close to PR's population....
example: as of right now PR = 175 players online, POE2 = 70 players online...
just so you know PR has dropped the 'mini-mod' status, as its hard to call it a minimod when its BF2's most successful mod

er .. as a mod dev I really dislike the staus of the BF2 mod player scene. it's so unfortnate that a franchise that was partially built on a mod (DC) has effectively destroyed the modding scene around that franchise.
there's a lot of great mods avaialble for BF2, but frankly nobody plays them.
this is what the BF2 mod player base has looked like for the past 4 weeks (keep in mind that during this same time frame there was about 15,000 vBF2 players on line and about 15,000 BF2142 players online at peak times).
It's a really dire state in terms of mod playing players... about 5% of the vBF2 players are playing mods, which represents about half of the players playing BF2 : SF.
