My understanding is that the parachute will only open when you are falling faster than a certain speed.

I mapped my "open parachute" to mouse-wheel-up because I find it easier to scroll continuously until the chute opens instead of pressing the 9 or space bar over and over.

just make space your parachute button then you will always hit it,

It was not added.
I just changed the 18th line in controls.con. This is it:
ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIWeaponSelect9 IDFKeyboard IDKey_Space 10000 0

95% of my suicides are due to this issue...forget jumping off a building/ledge too.

ok parachute is very easy to use......when u are in the air.....dont press it untill ur weapon, crosshair, and HUD goes away, that way there, u only need to press it once...

ive had this bug happen to me quite a bit....it makes the deploy sound, but still fallin at the same rate.....just press the button again, seems to work...

i changed my chute key to 'num 0'

i love getting a jet, and going up to like 2000 feet.....then i bail and free-fall across the whole map into enemy base, and hit the chute like 5 feet from the ground....no one sees me coming.....no empty vehicle icon, no long parachuting bulls eye......just fun

Anybody ever jump out of a helicopter or a jet or and you Hit "9",And you hear the parachute deploy and your like "wow this is a fast drop" then B@/V\!! you just crash into the ground and die. I hate that S**T! Is it a random lag or some glitch in the game? Happen to me little bit ago when i was playing wake island. I was like "what the hell? B@@/V\!!!, luckly my neck broke my fall."

Note-My ******* put Deply instead of Deploy on the thread title.
(Now i am gunna be Spammed from hell for not being perfect )

I never hit the '9' key just once.

I hit it until it opens.
