I believe 505 Is going to be their EU/US publisher and they plan on releasing sometime Feb 2007 (or at least not before then). Right now it's released in Czech Republic and will be released in Germany 11/30. Both these versions are extremely buggy and pretty much early beta stages. Not sure how well it will improve by a possible US release next year.

Oh, they plan on digital distribution as well with IDEA, which is an online digital distribution company. However, I think they are in early stages with that, who know when that will happen.

          Couple of questions

200 people on a huge map, will we see alot of people?
          Will there be squads?
          A commander?
          Arty?
          UAV?
How will we refuel? Fly over airstrip? Land?
If land how long does it take?
          VOIP?

            1. Depends. If you stick with a squad or focus on areas of high concentration, you shouldn't have trouble finding people. You should never have a hard time trying to find something to do.

            2. Yes. Much, much, MUCH larger than BF2's, though. Not sure of the exact size.

            3. Yes.

            4. Yes, but it must be called for by a squad, and firing is done by players.

            5. NO

            6. I would assume - not sure though.

            7. N/A

            8. Think so.

What do you mean players do the firing? Like POE?

I guess so. I never played POE extensively.

                Here is a video.

it used to be called OFP operation flash point...then ofp resistance. I played this game for years and made missions in editor mode. Great game if you like combat sims. It never got old with all the mods and addons that people made. Any weapon you could think of planes, helos, cars, tanks, or units, armies, buildings, missles, etc even nukes that wiped out half the a quarter of the map and left a big mushroom cloud they made it all.
heres the link if you want to check it out before they came out with AA

(look at mods and addons on left side)
Ive been waiting for AA to come out for a few years now. online game play is alright if theres a lot of people so you can play the the entire maps or just a small part. online isnt that much fun imho. Mission editing and mods was all I played it for and some online gameplay with buddies. To much time to plan out attacks and ambushes cause the maps make bf2 maps look like the front porch..there freaken huge so you never know where the enemy is until initial contact. So there ya go on my view of it, but you can make missions the way you want with up to like 200 soldiers and ai isnt as dumb as bf2 so its a challenge. If you like tactical combat sims then this is a good game.

Really I dont mind if all these idiots stick with BF2. Because you cant compare the two games, they're competely different.

I saw an amusing post on here some where:

                      "There is no stat/rank system!"

Your point being? ArmA is a tactical military simulator unlike BF2. And if thats your reason for not getting the game then I'd be glad that I wont be playing alongside you.

There are thousand reasons why this game rules over BF2, the main one, modding...
So much simpler and so much more rewarding. Take OFP for example, in its current state with the best community mods its awsome. ArmA wont look the same soon. Many people dont have it and BIS haven't got round to realeasing patches yet. And whilst talking about patches, arn't EA annoying and tell you to download a 500mb patch! BIS never realease one above 100 mb but still fixes the problems. Some of the features you have bene discussing, disliking or wanting are either going to come in a patch, or will be added by the huge and very experienced modding community that exists.

These pictures are unedited, the DoF (Depth of Field) blur effects are automatic in game.

Re: are you gonna give bf2 a rest now that Armed assault is kinda already here!!!

Look, no question all released games will have bugs. This release goes far beyond that, the game is essentially an early beta at this stage and BIS willingly released it knowing that. Any bugs in BF2 release pales in comparison with the shodiness of this game. OFP had a 10x better release. Already foreign review mags are giving this game around 70% rating citing many of the same problems I have. I don't care either way, I wanted to like this game, but the numerous performance issues ppl have been citing coupled with buggy engine/physics, retarded AI and terrible mission structures really make this game feel half-assed at best. You can look at pretty pictures all you want, it isn't going to change the fact that this game needs some SERIOUS development time still. I'm not even sure by February most of these issues will be even addressed.

BTW I have the Czech version so I've already played it extensively. BF2142 feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the shodiness of this game. Even the fanboys over on the BIS forums can't ignore a lot of serious gameplay/engine issues only a week after release.

To tack onto the already retarded amount of serious bugs that I've encountered in this game, check out this video:

                        ftp://armed-assault.de/aa//videos/arma_cz_rpgkill.avi

Don't tell me BIS didn't know about this bug, it's so glaringly obvious they didn't even bother to fix it.

                        Realistic sim my ***.

It was like that in OFP 1.00. Theyll fix it, any if everythign aint fixed by Feb. What does it matter? Just download the patches as they come......

But I dont care, your one little retard who likes such games as BF2 and BF2142, arcade shooters. This game is about tactics.

Did you ever play OFP and comapred it to what it is now!? Its awsome. The community will do what they do best and mod it. Things liek the bugs your complainging about can be fixed with ease. You probably dont have a clue where to start scripting or modding for OFp do you?

The point is, these bugs have been known since OFP (released years ago I might add, and still never fixed) and everyone expected them to be corrected in ArmA, of course they haven't, while glaring new bugs have been introduced. "The community" shouldn't be responsible for fixing serious flaws in the game, they are there to add to and enhance a working one. I'm not prepared to wait another 2 years as BIS decides to roll out patches. Also, I don't appreciate your personal insults, did I personally insult you? I'm merely pointing out the serious flaws in the game. I don't want to start some childish flame war, so don't resort to personal attacks please. If you end up playing the game and liking it, good for you, I certainly was extremely turned off, as will most people who were expecting an efficient, realistic sim. Like some over on the BIS forums stated, if this were released in the US, it would have been a big flop what with all the serious flaws it already possesses. This is probably one of the contributing factors in it not being released in the US, I'm merely giving people a heads up, it's up to them to decide.

er, ok so that rpg kill blew him into the air... you think thats a serious bug because its unrealistic??

i found bf2 to have 3 or 4 times more bugs than you have listed for this new game and the majority still havent been fixed.
i dont expect any game to come out with no bugs at all and i cant think of any that didnt have a patch released to fix things :)

Some of the performance issues render the game near unplayable for some people. Like I said above, I don't expect a game to be bugless, but the amount and severity of the bugs in this game render it beta status. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, but it seems most of the major foreign review mags do:

PC-Games: 78% (Stupid AI and terrible controls)
                                PC-Action:75%
                                Gamestar: 75%
                                PC Powerplay: 76%

Mentioning many of the same problems I did. You can say you don't follow reviews, but if they all agree on the same problems, then you know there's something wrong. Yes, the fact that an RPG can blow a guy 500 ft into the air in one piece is a serious bug, since it's been in there forever, breaks the realism and in the context of the numerous other serious bugs, leads me to the conclusion that the developers knew about these but didn't address them.

I'm not saying the game lacks potential or doesn't have its high points, it's just hard to say it's an enjoyable game with all the problems I'm finding. Neither do I expect it to be the best game ever, but in the scale of release candidates, this is certainly early beta, as it shouldn't have been released as it is. Many people agree with this fact, no question about it.
