since i only have w/s its hard to adjust the throttle other than 100% and 0%

but i sometimes tap the W button for bombing and sometimes when im being chased, i let them over run me

I use mouse and keyboard and I rarely slow down to take down choppers

2 reasons, its a tactic for ******* and its not fun, I fly with my finger on shift 100% of the time

there is no need to slow down, just fly as close to the repair tower as possible, its not the airstrip thats repairing you, its the little tower with the red and whie thing on top of it, if you pay attention.........on kubra you only get repairs if flying over the F18 airstrip, why..........because the tower is on that strip, dunno how carriers work

Re: Do you use the throttle for the jet?

I have developed a technique that works for me:

I fly with the joystick throttle at between 60-70%, but use the W/S keys to overide it most of the time.

I fly most runs full throttle with the W, but then to rearm/repair, I release the keyboard throttle and make a 180 degree approach turn to my base or carrier to scrub my speed down to the preset 60%. If I'm looking to scrub right down, I hold the S until the engine is air braked, and then release to maintain minimum airspeed and prevent a stall.

In helo's I do the same, but I feather the joystick throttle to find the hover point before I get going for the first time. This allows me to hover automatically, and not loose altitude during a solo TV shot.

To people using joystick throtlle for choppers. Dont. Unbind joystick throttle and youll have autohover % when you simply release the W key.

I use an x45 setup by Saitek and constantly adjust throttle while flying jets.

It really depends on the situation, and what I am trying to do.. if I am fighing with mobile or stationary AA, I stay fast and high; coming at them from random directions (sometimes from straight above) to try to catch them from a blind spot; always using 100% power and often afterburners too.

If I am attacking ground targets that don't pose much threat (FAV/DPV, APCs, tanks, etc), I will always cut throttles to like 60-75% (never below that incase an enemy jet or AA locks me up) and use rudder to adjust my line-up, blasting away with cannon fire once I'm in range and all the way down until bomb release, so that I give myself the max amount of time to inflict as much damage as I can before the bombs finish what is left over.

The throttle is there for a reason.
