Shoot the cocpit, so that the pilot/gunner get hurt first. Lets say a full blackhawk. Think of it as you have an M95. You want to aim at the pilot, so that it will spin out of control and drop. Even if the pilot is dead, the heli wmight still be intact, but spin unreasonably out of control, killing all. With jets go the same thing, If you are going too fast to aim directly and take a few shots at the fuselage, most of the time, it will hurt the chopper, but they can go back for repairs.

you should listen to metal, I do the same to helos but i dont waste missles on them, I save those for jets, the more you rearm, the more you leave yourself open to ambush from other jets over your airfield. gun to the **** pit from a 45 degree angle from the rear, its hard for them to see you and for gods sake, dont lock him up, your basicaly telling him to maneuver away when you do that, and on another note, the only time you have to worry about getting tvd by a helo in a jet is when you slow down, DONT FRICKEN SLOW DOWN!!! NEVER EVER....EVER. Every one will notice you and take a pot shot at you, if the ground forces dont shred you, the enemy jets will.

I love throttle cutters, intially they think theyve shaken you but you can come back around for another pass before they can get up to full throttle, just dont do it, If i see you doing this I'll just gun you down without a lock just to prove a point, and I know metal will too :)

Im a throttle cutter, but I do this to about 70% if Im after a chopper, 80% when Im in a F35B at a dogfight, and all the way down in a desperate evasive maneuver.

If you have a completely undamaged jet, fly over the top of the helicopter and skim their main rotor. They will either blow up on the spot of catch fire and blow up in a second or two. Depending on how close you are when it blows you will come out with about half damage or if you are fast and get them to catch fire just missing 3 or 4 bars.

You can call it cheap, but it does work and it does take some and it does take a little skill to pull off properly.

I use that technique on ground troops with the MEC choppers. They can take a pretty good thumping before they burn.

I'll have to try it on a helo as I finish the strafe run.

Best way to shoot down a Heli, is if you miss, do a nice long loop and attack the heli again. Keep doing it until you destroy it.

My favorite way is to fly right over the helo and loose a missile just as you pass over. You are in effect "dumb firing" the missile. If you do it at the right time the missile has no where to go but into the helo regardless of lock and flares. If you softend the helo up with your cannon on you approach, you can get them with one pass.

Here is the trick...

1. Go Spec-ops.
2. Get behind enemy lines
3. Pull out the bag of sugar
4. Add to the JP4 container
5. Return to base.

RocketChild, don't you like TV-Guiding them??? I've been spending a lot more time on the MEC side in Smoke Screen: more targets...

If you're a grunt snipe the cockpit; or get two AT guys to hit at the same time. Or jump on the IGLA or Stinger when their tied up above you; but jump right off again so you don't light up the bomber boxes;-) Jump in the AA and ask the commander for supplies...

Yeah this is effective a lot of the time from behind... A good chopper pilot will flare and loop towards either side of you since you can't manouver as fast when at 25%... Most of the time I just find jets to be like flies, but a good throttle cutter is most effective. What's sweet is to TV-Guide a jet that's slowed down to rake you!

never ever slow down to gun down choppers, its an act of noobness and no one respects that. dont use missiles cuz it will draine ur energy, ull have to wish really hard for them to actually hit the chopper, best way is if chopper is stationarry, point at the top section of the chopper and shoot going normal speed, if chopper is moving in a constant speed in a direction, aim infront of the chopper all the time and all ur rounds will hit. takes only 1 run to take down. unlike missiles, takes 4-7 runs to do so.

Take it from a groundpounder: use a TOW. Annihilates choppers and they often dont expect it. I once owned the same chopper crew 4 times in a row with the SAME TOW on Sharqi, and these guys were lieutenants, they werent noobs. You just gotta wait till flies over and catch it on the turn and its a sitting duck. This is probably one of my most favourite things in the game.
