    Re: Battlefield 2 Today

I appreciate everything our soldiers have done. But I wouldn't say they were protecting my freedom, unless Rumsfeld really isn't an idiot and Saddam had secret nukes that could destroy the USA. I feel that the soldiers have died fighting the war of Bush, not of America. Anti-war people should blame the US government. Insurgents should blame the US government. All the US military is doing is following orders, and getting a meager pay in return for laying their lives on the line because some dumb cowboy wants to take over the world, or whatever his current agenda for starting wars is.

As Plato said: Only the dead have seen the end of war.

      "If you are able,
      case for them a place
      inside of you
      and save one backward glance
      when you are leaving
      for the places they can
      no longer go.
      Be not ashamed to say
      you loved them,
      though you may
      or may not have always.
      Take what they have left
and what they have taught you
      with their dying
and keep it with your own.
      And in that times
when men decided and feel safe
      to call the war insane,
      wake one moment to embrace
      those gentle heroes
      you left behind.

      Major Michael Davis O'Donnell
      1 January 1970
      Dak To, Vietnam"

The Iraq war's original objective was to remove suspected weopons of mass destruction. This objective hasn't been, and cannot be completed. US+Allies cannot win this war they face in Iraq. It is a mess. Whether troops should be withdrawn, and how this should be done is another question entirely.
