My tactic for claymore.. stick em at top of ladders And if u kill some one with claymore then u knwo there comin to get yew :P

If you want to protect your arse you are better of putting that claymore en route to your position instead on top of a ladder like all the other jokers do. Its not like nobody knows about clays at top of laders you know.

Place that claymore at some bottleneck, in a corner facing the direction your target will move to (so not facing him when he comes in), and you will also know if he is coming.

Difference is that with a clay on top you still can get a handgrenade on your position if the enemy Commander made a call-out on your position. If you put that clay anywhere else the chances of you intercepting that guy that wants to nade you will increase.

i never come across one of those cheap claymore killers until i saw this thread.. my god, do you do anything BUT run into the midst of the enemy with claymores?!?

I think he meant all of us who play as a Sniper. I for one am proud to be a Claymore whore. I don't just throw it down willy-nilly, I place it into strategic locations that help me capture flags without fear of interference from trigger happy infantry with assault rifles.

Well I wouldnt call myself a claymore-whore perse. I just use them to direct traffic, defend flags or protect my six on some maps.

I also am not in the habbit of running and dumping them at somebodies feet on maps like SAK. Hell I dont even play SAK and when I do its because I am bored and want a break from sniping.

I am more the outdoors-type of sniper, not the urban short distance type. I prefer distance over snapshots on urban maps.
And with outdoor maps comes a whole diffferent territory and tactic in using claymores.

One of my favorites is setting up an ambush on a road where I know a DPV will come by. The trick is placing the clays in such a fashion as to empty out the DPV (preferbly three kills ) and at the same time not damaging the vehicle beyond use.
I then keep the vehicle and move it to some location so it cannot be used for a minute or so. That way you are denying th enemy some means of transport and making sure (with a bit of luck) he cannt get to your location quickly again.

I've been getting used to open area sniping, but I find myself constantly allured by the need to take flags. It may be ADHD, but I can't sit in a single spot for longer than a minute. Especially if I have to wait for targets.

Like you though, I enjoy clearing out a full FAV with a single claymore. :)

Thats probably the only reason I play a sniper on maps like Daqing Oilfields.

Wake Island FTW; I just run around as a sniper and do quick headshots, no stealth for me on that map.

Wake Island annoys the crap out of me.

At least 66% of the PLA rounds that I've played with, end up with USMC stuck on the Carrier.

I always have nothing to do then, and thats just not fun.

It doesn't happen on an Air-Maps or All-Maps server when I'm playing USMC though, since when the maps change, I'm always the first one to load, and thus always the first one to the F-35B. (I don't actually try to fly it. I use it to quickly taxi me to the north flag.)

I would go insane on a 24/7 wake server though.

I usually place my clays in a diagonal when I want to clear out a fast mover. The first one takes out the passengers, the second one the driver. If a DPV or FAV is at top speed it will happen allmost at the same time. Chances are however that you will blow up the vehicle with the second clay.

Wake isnt my favorite either, but whenever I play it I usually go Medic first and take a Black Hawk to the island. I get up to 200 meters/feet (?) and when I am near a CP I allmost divebomb at full throttle towards it. I rarely get hit when doing this. At the last possible moment I reverse throttle, pull up the nose and use the airsped I still have to break the last ten meters or so. The squad can hop out, cap the CP and get in for the next Flag within a couple of seconds.
Once we got a foothold I will switch to Sniper.
