Help with Helicopter Ribbon

I have 580+ hours now and decided to go for the Helicopter Service and Helicopter Specialist ribbons. The thing is that I've come close to the 19 kills in the helicopter. Yeah, I need more practice. But my efforts to get the kills and the 15 minutes in a round always seem to be frustrated by eager teammates crowding the helipads (the reason I haven't tried sooner) or by solo pilots who spin around and fly off before I can jump in the gunner seat.

What kills me are the RETARDS who insist that you must be an ace gunner in order to be in *their* helicopter. What elitist nonsense! It's a game, man. I'll get there but I need the practice.

Go MEC on Sharqi, that's the quickest way IMO. Try to get in the gunner seat.

If you can even get the Helo on Sharqi, that is one of the most crowded helo pads in the world.

Tom, I hate to say could'a/should'a but the best way to have gotten the ribbon was back in the BH glory days. The Mini-Gun on Mashtuur was the end of many.

If you can get in a map will few people on it that will last a while, you might be able to get it on something like Ghost Town...if the server is slow.

As from the last patch, the really kicked the last nail in the helos, because the gunner cannons have been really gimped now with 1.4. On a map like Sharqi though, you can pull in 20+ kills when you have people crowded in small areas and have a decent pilot.

You need 19 kills/15 min. BH is not a killing machine anymore (thank God)

I find it easy to get the ribbon (almost all my accounts got it =P).
Get an attack chopper, any attack chopper. By the time you have 15 min, you WILL have more than 19 kills if the pilot is half decent (or you have no pilot).

Get metallica, sloi, or even myslf to fly you around. I could easily fly you around Wake, and I can guarantee 30+ kills in 15 minutes, unless Im having a REALLY bad day.

Look, I'll fly you around for that ribbon if you have teamspeak or ventrilo: you don't need to say a word... just listen to the "spots" I'm giving you and it's almost guaranteed you'll have it in less than 10 minutes. Just xfire me... sloi.

I know you think I'm an *******, but it's not always that way. I'm still there for the people when they need a helping hand. :)

I find that Dragon Valley us the easiest map to get a chopper on. 2 on the carrier, one at woodlot, and one at the MEC airfeild. You have to be able to find one there.

And BTW, full maps are the worst place to get those ribbons unless you are a great pilot/gunner.

Half full maps still give you all the choppers, and there aren't as many good competitors gunning for you.

More frustration last night. Teammates would destroy the helicopter with the Vodnik gun and SRAW rockets whenever we flew in to repair and resupply. On Sharqi one joker (on our team) even blindfired the AT turret from the Hotel to take out our heli on takeoff. Grrrrr. I am determined to get the ribbons but I'm wondering why folks insist on behaving so badly.

Because people are stupid, plain and simple. It happens, just have to ignore it and find a better server. I have often found playing at odd hours is best for avoiding these types of games.
