    Some really "dumb" beginner questions.

    I searched "beginner" but didn't find what I'm looking for.
    I RTFM (read the f'ing manual" but that didn't have it either.

    Through the various screens, where can I find what icons mean what? For instance, on the score list screen after a round/game, I see a cup, a little medic thing, a crosshair (I assume kills?) and a skull (I'm assuming times killed).

    There's others too, I can't think what they are right now.

    Thanks.

    Crosshair = Kills
    Skull = Deaths
    Cup = Round Score
    Medic/Wrench/Flag = Captures/Repairs/Heals etc.

    I think thats right! heheh

      Thanks man. I'm still trying to figure out everything to do. I wish it was like Age of Empires where it would give you a walk-through for everything. :lol: Maybe basic skills to master & progress & practice. I've figured out AI single player games, but it would be sweet if there was a target practice map or something to see how everything worked.

      Kind of funny, I'm actually USAF Active Duty, but I'm a comm guy, so this stuff doesn't apply to me. :)

        Join an empty server, so it's just you and whatever kit you pick, and whatever vehicles are nearby in order to very briefly "get the hang of things". When you can steer an AT rocket into a distant target, and when you know where your shock paddles are, and when you have mapped your mouse to suit your taste, then go join a regular server, join a squad, and stick with them.

        Pretty soon, you'll be hookering up the points, or having a grand ol' time, or --just possibly-- a little bit of both. :)

                  There is no such thing as ... "Some really 'dumb' beginner questions" ... a question is what it is, especially from a beginner.

                  Good to see we still get new peeps onboard in this game :) Have fun m8.

                    Also the medic icon really means= assist points, not nessesarily just revive and repair, if you are a pilot and the gunner kills a person that goes to the medic/engi/ammo box AKA Assist Points.

                      Cool, an Airforce guy.

                      Welcome to Battlefield 2. Oh the fun you will have.

                      Look around at the user guides and stuff like that, most of them are pretty helpful, I learned a few tricks of the trade from reading them.

                      You'll get the hang of it eventually, just keep trying.

                      Don't let the bugs get to you, either. :hmm:

                        Re: Some really "dumb" beginner questions.

                        Haha thanks everyone. I was just annoyed I couldn't find what I was looking for in the manual and there was no "help" file either that I could find that installed with it.

                        I used to play the hell out of Counter-Strike so I'm a little familiar with FPS games, but this one is waaaaaaaaaaaaay more advanced.

                        I'm still trying to figure out this whole flag capturing thing. So far I'm just having fun climbing up on the highest thing I can find and shooting people, then parachuting off. :lol:

                        I don't know about joining up clans or scheduled games...the ole lady will kick my *** for that one! "Sorry hon, can't take you out tonight! OMGWTFLOL I have a Battlefield game tonight!!1!!1onE!1 :lol:

                            No problem. This was lifted from a thread, in which I believe the discussion had turned to less-then-ethical employment of computer code (or so alleged), to which one of the posters had a brain spasm and began babbling in "leet speak" about the extent to which everyone else was hacking to win. Eternal-Souljah (ever the poet) stooped down to that level and offered a pretty coherent, well-thought out response, in my opinion. Here, I shall translate:

                            "You seem to be fond of other men, not that there's anything wrong with that, other than that I have gotten somewhat bored of constantly making you cost the other team tickets when we both find ourselves on the opposite end of a pair of sniper sights in-game, due to my superior experience. You do make a hearty effort to fit in by placing claymores inside uncapturable bases, and beside flags, yet still I always end the round with a far, far better kill-to-death ratio than you do--again, due to my superior experience and incredible skill. I understand that this gets frustrating for you, and that being such an awful, inexperienced, and unskilled player must make your entire life less pleasurable, but I really think you should refrain from throwing around baseless accusations that people are utilizing unauthorized code(s) for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage on their fellow players. To demonstrate--in no uncertain terms--that I am not hacking the system, be advised that I intend to and shall forthwith sneak up behind you, empty my Jackhammer at the back of your head, and then teabag your pathetic, lifeless, stinking corpse until the highly aggressive germs found on the battlefield fully decompose it fifteen seconds later. See you in-game, my friend."

                            Hey, hope this helps, they don't put leet speak in any manual, either.
