Firstly, theres some kicka$$ feeling you get when you log into a server and find a squad and work with them or make your own and do the same. Before with guys I played with alot and what not it was repetitive. With random pub squading I get the random lvl of skill and such..keep sBf2 ever changing per round I play.
Also everyone was always 1 of 3 things..Medic, support, or jihad sniper.

Sometimes it isnt about winning or pwning, its about having fun, meeting new people and such. When it was usual recylced squads day in and day out with the same people I knew what to expect. Now i can log in and be on a crap team with no team work and I can push myself hardcore and try my damnnest to carry the load...or...I can find people as Bf2 compotent as i find myself, squad up with them, work like a well oiled machine and meet some new friends.
Ive made far more friends pubbing and not being in a clan then being in one and far more fun.

Plus as a big incentive to be is self respecting honor, and Im not knocking anyone that carries a must win agenda...but that just isnt me.
I couldnt have fun and say to myself "well I won/lost but I did so with honor"
And when I say what just doesnt seem honorable to me Im talking of macroing jump (you think there repeatedly hopping flag to flag?? no thats one button being held down 99% of the time) Playing 3 kits (1 kit 90% of the time i.e. Medic with a G36E)

To each his own honestly. But when I log off of Bf2 I just like to know I played every class somewhat equaly, didnt take the slim bits of realism actually in Bf2 and bend it into a jumpathon, and I didnt lock myself to a group.
But everyone has there own agenda. In the world of internet gaming with no rules and such all you have is your personal respect...I want that respect I have for myself to show to any average noob/pubber/pwn master..I want them to think or say "wow, he lost/died/killed me but he didnt do it with some cheap tactic or some carbon copy class."

Come on how many times have you played like 10 round stright at Karkand just to watch the same 5 guys with a similar clan tag play the same class, jump teams to be with each other, and use every cheap tactic over and over again. I would hate this game if I had to do that day in and day out.
Im not talking about pub clans who go around pubbing with together. CAL clans are clans who play in competitive league matches against eachother. They develope very complex strats and have incredible teamwork. The experience of taking part in such a team is an increadible experience. The clan you described is no real clan at all.

LOL, here we go. -1 for CAL "clans".

Thats not a good way to grow understanding, especially when a "clan" is SIMPLY a group of players who like organized gameplay. Clan doesnt describe competitive players.

I guess he should have said a competitive clan.

A competitive clan is a group of players who play the game for every reason except fun.

That doesn't sound like the same game I'm playing at all.

I'm not insulting people like Sterex, or Wolf in the least. I understand them to have managed to reach a great balance between "Fun" and "Competition."

It just doesn't sound like the type of BF2 that I'd like to play. Money prizes are a great incentive, but it's not worth any number of sleepless nights to me. When I joined my clan, I was allured by the fact that despite the fact that they'll play in clan matches, and scrims; it'd be based around our time-schedule. I wouldn't just be another grunt who was forced to be there, or get the flock out of the clan.

I don't play for any other reason than fun. I've never been to a big LAN, nor have I lost any sleep over BF2. The thing is though that playing with the rest of my team in scrims and competition is far greater than the chaotic catastrophe that pubbing is any day.

CAL gets a really bad name from all the smack talkers in pubs, most of which claim to be "high ranking" CAL members and aren't even registered.

                  Again.

This is what I meant by the balance of "Fun" and "Competition"

Unfortunately, I can't pull a balancing act. Work comes first, I'm lucky to get even 5 hours a week in this game now that Christmas is coming up.

Yes, I should of. My point is that a clan that only pubs together does not present an experience to their members that is much different from pubbing by themselves.

I guess it all comes down to your competitive nature. I love competition. I live from pressure situations and important plays. I really enjoyed striving and practicing to be able to play against the best players in the world. I guess for you competition=pressure and work, while for me competition=fun. A game is a lot more fun to play in when its going to decide if you make it to the finals than if it is just another round on another pub. If that isn't your brand of coffee, then maybe CAL is not for you.

You are confusing best players with best teams here. They are not the same.

A game is what it is, a game. Its there to be enjoyed by everybody as they see fit. You like the competition element of BF2, but that doesnt mean the game is more fun for the next person if he would play competitions.

Sadly I get enough Competition, and Pressure from real life. I never want to experience it in a game again.

It's one of the sole reasons that I had given up MMORPG's forever.

I opted instead for the relaxing feeling of playing two or three games of BF2 with no strings attached. FPS's are perfect for casual play, because of the lack of strings. You don't have to devote thousands upon thousands of hours to excell at it. Instead, you just need to be a quick learner.

Couldnt agree more with you on this one. I also play to relax after a hard days work. The Stat system is perfect in this sense because you can strive for improving yourself in certain areas in your own tempo and time. Or not offcourse. but the challenge is yours to pursue. Only on occasion I will join a clan when I have some spare time on my hands.

You're more of a "Scientific Method" player if you ask me.

                            Knowledge and Experience over Experience.

There is nothing wrong with hands on experience, but I also frequent some forums. This one has some nice threads on bulletdrop and other stuff at the time so I took note on what was being written.
But you are right when you say "Scientific Method" player (interesting description btw ) I delve into stuff when I have been working with it for some time. It extends beyond the boundaries of the Internets btw, its how I deal with IRL also. I am allways curious :)

I'm too erratic to worry about things like Bulletdrop. I usually line up a shot, take a shot, and get the hell out of the way before the enemy sniper can fire a shot at me. It's worked wonders for me personally, since I quite literally play a Sniper the same as most people play an Infantryman. I go around and I capture flags, and rush headlong into firefights.

Though when I'm actually taking a flag... to make up for my lack of an automatic weapon, I strategically place my claymores to protect me while I'm capping a flag. Of course. =D

That pistol is pretty darn handy too.

Like I said before; I would go crazy if I had to calculate trigonometry and physics everytime I wanted to line up a shot.

You'd probably make a good Engineer or IT consultant though. (If you aren't one already.)
