But if you need to use every dirty little trick the game allowes (for one reason or another) you to do, the game looses all the meaning to it. It's just turned into stupidity.
Because thats where the fun comes for some people. You know, coordinated key mashing actually does take skill, practice, experience and a vision aswell as a purpose. Battlefield 2 is VERY far from simulating anything, except for force multiplication.

My favourite game, SWAT4, has a very high level of realism, the game itsself is made so that you ACTUALLY feel fully immersed and start playing AND moving as if you did in real life. I sh!t you not. You quickly learn that if you wont play smart, you will never get anywhere. And "smart" as in real life smart. Point of Existence, a BF2 mod actually managed to do the same for me.

But Battlefield 2 does not offer much in reward to a thinking player, not in the same level as POE2 or SWAT4 or any tactical sim does. The worst example I can bring is "Bridge" map in Americas Army where the team that camps the most, wins. The player who has the most self control, prevails.

But there are games, such as UT, Quake or whatever, that offer another kind of gameplay, and that is ultrafast movement along with buttonmashing to create quick movement combinations. BF2 is closer to those games, than to SWAT4.

Now, people play games they like, the way they like, and some people actually like buttonmashing to create combinations that give them an advantage. There are a kind of people who create macros, those wont fall into the category. So its not "retarded". Yes it does look out of place, and looks retarded, but its done for a reason, and the most probable reason is that it does have a purpose. Remember that BF2 is still played for fun, and the input devices are a MOUSE and a KEYBOARD.

Another very important aspect is the functionality of certain maneuvers the game offers. Retarded bounce and play offers great bullet-evasing probability, simple as that. Weapons random cone of fire (DICE made especially for whining punks that cant aim for sh!t and cant stop whining hax hax hax) does NOT allow for a quick stop for the jump and bounce evasions.

Which brings us to BF2142, where the random cone of fire is even WORSE than BF2 and the movement is extremely restricted. The worst combination ever. But this is out of topic already.

CAL does use 1.4. BHing is still just as possible as before 1.4 as well as "dolphin diving" which really just refers to people going prone when they want to shoot someone. Pronespamming, however, is gone. Players no longer can bounce around like fish out of water.

BHing and DDing do not do anything to the hitboxes.

I don't care how they play. But I find it extremely stupid when I see a group of characters not walking, not running... but constantly jumping across the map. Just picture it yourself, 10 or so characters doing that, it looks... well, stupid is how I can describe it. The game looses all the meaning because it's turned into a bunny hopping fest.

If that's the way they must play to win games, well, let it be. I personally would never lower myself to such degree.
It is effective because it makes it harder for you to shoot them. Please do not sit on a high horse and say you are more honorable because you haven't figured out how to play the game well. There is no honor involved besides hacking. That is wrong. What CAL players do is smart.

Yes, you really can. In CAL were BHing is prevelent it requires a much much higher level of skill in order to kill someone because they dont jog down the middle of the street like morons. People who deal with these tactics often and effectively have every right to make that argument.

What is dirty about it? Its a video game. All we do is press the jump bottom. There is nothing dirty about that.

The constant switching between positions actually do have influence on the chances of hitting somebody. If you think otherwise thats more or less your problem.

Who the hell is it effective for? I can't quiet figure out with those few comments you've made, you've just confused me.

I said, 'dirty tricks' as in, a name for those tactics, not as in, it's dirty to do those things.

Anyways, the way 'pro' gaming is, is retarded. Yes BF2 is not a realism sim, but it's not a bunny hopping festival either, which 'pro' gamers and other pubbers or clanners turn it into. I have always found it retarded and stupid and I always will.

If I want to see a bunch of bunnies hopping about I will turn one of them Discovery channels on.

I don't know if you noticed but there is now this thing called a prone delay which no longer allows you to do that.

It is an effective way to aviod fire. When you are reloading and getting shot at jumping decreases your chances of dying. I don't see what is complicated about that.

Regarding bunny hopping, in pub games I see the occasional players jumping around and it was tough to fight them at first. Now I don't mind, they go down the same, but since they can't shoot back, my health is improved.
I have my own evasive technique, not involving jumping around, so I can shoot and avoid fire at the same time. Much more effective, if you ask me.
SO be my guest, jump as much as you like, I don't care at all.
I wonder how a squad full of bunny hoppers would look like. I'm sure it's a funny sight.

Trust me, it looks retarded, which makes it funny to look at at the same time. I've seen it happen and all those 'pro' gaming people did was bunny hop from one flag to another, even if there was no enemy around. ****ing hillariously retarded :)

Exactly the point. You guys may be against it right now but I'm sure after a week you would be use to it.

But this BHing discussion is far from the point. I made this thread to inform people about this really great league in hopes that some would join it. I am trying to expose people to a much better and more fun way to play the game. CAL matches make pubbing look like taking out the trash, they really are that fun. I hoped that maybe I could convice some of these "uberleet" pubbers whose skills some of the forum members so fiercely defend would gain interest in competitive gaming. I'm trying to help you guys and expose you to a better gaming experience, not argue about the legitimacy of the CAL style of gameplay.

Dude you are clueless. Any average CAL team or top TWL will destroy your pubbers with their monitors off. This is why people who are the best at this game play in competition. Practice as a team and multiple scrims are design to work as a unit and people playing in pubs hardly expirience this ever. That level of the game is beyond them. Most people who are new to CAL don't do to well at the beggining because of stress and presure they were not exposed before in BF2.

You are an Idiot and please don't talk about things you have no idea about.

Leagues and ladders > pubs simply because the idiocy is cut by 99% while playing. No one is sitting in wait to M95 you out of a chopper/plane, you aren't going to endlessly get revived in front of the same spawncamping tank/apc etc...commanders command, everyone is on the same sheet of music as far as the over all goal, it's just a lot more fun.

                              Re: The Truth About CAL

I find pubbing intresting to be honest.
I ran with clans and still play with some guys from clans and such, but it gets stale.
Firstly, theres some kicka$$ feeling you get when you log into a server and find a squad and work with them or make your own and do the same. Before with guys I played with alot and what not it was repetitive. With random pub squading I get the random lvl of skill and such..keep sBf2 ever changing per round I play.
Also everyone was always 1 of 3 things..Medic, support, or jihad sniper.

Sometimes it isnt about winning or pwning, its about having fun, meeting new people and such. When it was usual recylced squads day in and day out with the same people I knew what to expect. Now i can log in and be on a crap team with no team work and I can push myself hardcore and try my damnnest to carry the load...or...I can find people as Bf2 compotent as i find myself, squad up with them, work like a well oiled machine and meet some new friends.
Ive made far more friends pubbing and not being in a clan then being in one and far more fun.

Plus as a big incentive to be is self respecting honor, and Im not knocking anyone that carries a must win agenda...but that just isnt me.
I couldnt have fun and say to myself "well I won/lost but I did so with honor"
And when I say what just doesnt seem honorable to me Im talking of macroing jump (you think there repeatedly hopping flag to flag?? no thats one button being held down 99% of the time) Playing 3 kits (1 kit 90% of the time i.e. Medic with a G36E)

To each his own honestly. But when I log off of Bf2 I just like to know I played every class somewhat equaly, didnt take the slim bits of realism actually in Bf2 and bend it into a jumpathon, and I didnt lock myself to a group.
But everyone has there own agenda. In the world of internet gaming with no rules and such all you have is your personal respect...I want that respect I have for myself to show to any average noob/pubber/pwn master..I want them to think or say "wow, he lost/died/killed me but he didnt do it with some cheap tactic or some carbon copy class."

Come on how many times have you played like 10 round stright at Karkand just to watch the same 5 guys with a similar clan tag play the same class, jump teams to be with each other, and use every cheap tactic over and over again. I would hate this game if I had to do that day in and day out.

The increase in accuracy should actually make it a lot easier (compared to normal BF2) to hit people who don't stand still or jump while you shoot at them. The fact that almost all the players playing BF2Pro are better (i.e. more aware) than average pubbers just means that most of them won't stand still for you when you shoot them :) It's not the mod, it's the players.
Sorry I didnt claify what I was saying. I Knew that there was nothing done about the jumping. Infact the stamina is slightly increased. The reason I hate them jumping is that the hitboxes lag so far behind a player when they just are running that it can be verry hard to hit someone who is jumping like a monkey with a gun if hte hitboxes arent matching their movements. I still am getting used to the hitboxes and hope that playing bf2pro can help me to get more used to it.
